Plain Jane - Cheater #1

1 Attachment(s)
Here's the second of three quilts for the family reunion this summer. Made with a cheater panel of Dear Jane fabric - figured this was as close as I'd ever get to the real thing!!

Where did you find that fabric? Didn't know it existed! Like you, this may be as close as I ever get to a dear jane.

It's beautiful! From the picture it almost looks like the real thing! Would be as close as I'd ever get to the real thing, too.

I'm with you. The panel is great! Very impressive without the headaches:) Love the way you bordered it and the quilting is perfect!:)

I ordered it online from somewhere - probably Connecting Threads - but it was some time ago, may no longer be available.

I can't take credit for the quilting - a local LAQ gave out coupons at our quild Christmas party last year and I finally used it. I told her to do a fast meander in the panel & quilt the borders as she wanted. She does wonderful work!

My LQS was selling this panel along with some of the Dear Jane fabrics. I believe she still has some of the fabrics left, but I have not seen the panel in a while.

I am with you on your great fabric selection. That is one cool idea for the Dear Jane quilt. I bet if they ran that fabric again it would sell out quickly. Your version is great!

I have that panel- now I need to do something with it -actually forgot I had it until just now :)

Amazing how beautiful a panel turns out after it's quilted!! Great quilt :)

Your 'vacation' quilts are all wonderful! You've been very busy. And I agree with some other comments I've seen about these cheaters being pretty cool!!

Excuse me, I find nothing plain about your Ms. Jane. She is gorgeous!

quilttiludrop 05-27-2012 02:12 PM

It's very nice! Cheater quilt tops have some advantages! It will wear well!

Looks nice. I've got my eye on one of those panels, too. Like you, I figure that's the only way I'll get a Dear Jane.

Good job on another cheater. This must be one of the three you plan to keep! lol. Thanks for sharing.

Jammin' Jane 06-05-2012 12:44 PM

It looks wonderful!! :)

nygal 07-12-2012 06:33 AM

Wow..at first glance it looks like the real thing!! I wonder why they stopped selling the fabric? I think it must have been popular. It looks great!!

nygal 01-30-2013 08:03 AM

Even tho I made a twin size Dear Jane quilt using the book I still would LOVE to own a few yards of the cheater fabric. I have searched and searched and it seems to be no longer available anywhere. A website in Australia had it but never responded to my email asking about the cost of it. Darn.

Turned out nice..

Chasing Hawk 01-31-2013 10:12 AM

I love it!! Great job

Even tho I made a twin size Dear Jane quilt I still would LOVE to get my hands on some of this "Cheater cloth". It seems like it is impossible to get now.

Wow!! I didn't know they made cheater's print like that. You did a great job quilting it. Way to go!!!
