I shamelessly copied my D9P from Kyia (http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-67422-1.htm)
but I have to say her color choices are alot better. This is for a new grand-niece on the way. My second real quilt but my first quilt where I had more than a vague idea of what I was doing. The other one I tied. It is neat and flat so I am proud of it.

This one I did a stitch-in-or near-ditch (except where needle had magnetic attraction to dark squares and veered off!) around each block, so far. I do not FMQ. I barely Q!! I have walking foot and regular machine

Now what??? I am thinking maybe do a stitch 1/4" inside big quare pieces and little purple pieces but that would be FOURTY-EIGHT!! :( squares with 48 tying offs and 48 hiding threads...And it might not look good if I didn't do the oblong pieces also

Or I could zip down the other seams SID creating smaller blocks from oblongs and big blocks.

I have to quilt 2-4" apart.

Here are pictures - I value your opinions and recommendations - thank you!
Sue

Loop de loops or meander or stipple-something not straight lines. I like the contrast of curvy quilting with straight lines piecing

i do a diagnol crisscross thru the blocks. It cuts up the pieces and makes it look more intricate but still shows the pattern well. And it's quick! Here's my last one:

Don't know if it helps you at all...the last pic is a close up of the diagnol i'm talking about.

Personally, I think diagonal lines would look great.

Sorry about the double post, I'm not sure what happened.

Personally, I like straight line quilting on D9Ps. I have quilted mine like your option #1.
The idea of a diagonal crisscross through the blocks sounds like something I'd try next time. Thanks Melissa-Lynn.

I have one the 1/4 inch stitch with the machine in all but the small squars. they are quilted tightly enough with others stitches beside them.

Good luck..
