I am desperate for a pattern for these two fabrics chosen by my great niece. Nothing "POPS" into my head as it normally does when I see fabric. Any photos or pattern names for two color quilts would be greatly appreciated.

The butterflies would be beautiful fussy cut in attic windows.

If you end up with any scraps of the butterflies, send me a PM and I would be thrilled to send you an envelope for some of them. I would even send a couple of bucks for your time. :-D

You could add a yellow and a yellow/blue print and make a warm wishes with the butterfly fabric as the focus block. Love the butterflies.

You can try Night & Day from quilterscache.com

I really love both these fabrics, but they are so similar in color and value that any 2-color pattern will really not show up very well. I think all the pieces will just blend together. Can you add a third fabric, maybe that very, very pale blue (or am I seeing a really, really pale purple in there?) and maybe a little bit of navy to match the thin lines in the one on the left? With the additional colors a larger array of patterns would be possible.

I agree with PaperPrincess that the two colors are too close in both value and color. For only a two color quilt, you should have more contrast. I bet the GN would be happy if these are the two pre-dominant fabrics in the quilt but do suggest that you add a higher contrast fabric.

What about the disappearing 9 patch? Agree with others, colors are really close, but this might do it.

I agree. I can see the one on the left combined with a white for the 2 color block and then a narrow border of the purple in the butterfly print and then the butterfly print as a wide border.

Try a pattern called "Four Fun" by Mountainpeek Creations. Its strip pieceing and done in different sizes of four patches. It makes a great quilt and is fast and easy.

whatever you decide,they're beautiful fabrics.

There is definately a little purple swirling through the butterfly fabric. I like all your suggestions so I think I will probably take my fabric to a LQS and see what I might find to match. Keep the ideas coming!

This is a cute and easy pattern.

I love the blue butterflies..very pretty

If she only wants the two fabrics, I would fussy cut the butterflies & use the other fabric for sashing around them.

gangles 01-27-2011 11:46 AM

That is a good idea, I will have to check about the addition of fabric.
Thank you.

I think I would make a Drunkaeds Path from this. It is beautiful. Marvel
