Don't forget to put your maiden name on the quilt also so you know what side of the family it is from. I have been married for over 33 years. I have always used my married name but I put my maiden name on the quilts.

I use a fine tip pen and write my name on the lower right hand corner on the back of my quilts. Many quilters have told me not to do this but rather make a label. The reason I do it with pen is because a while ago I saw a very old quilt with the quilter's name in pen on the back. It was so nice to see her writing and made it more personal.
I have made a few labels but mostly use a fine point Sharpie. The quilts are very lovely! |
Why? A little mystery is good sometimes, don't you think? ;)

I always try to put as much detail into my labels as possible. I do it thinking about whoever down the road - be it relative or not. Whoever ends up w/ the quilt will know the entire story. I also will include maiden names. I always have to practice writing down what I want so that I don't make any mistakes!! LOL!!

They are stunning works, a real testament to the patience of the maker!
I need to embroidery tomorrow anyway...so I will add my name to my quilts tomorrow, and future generations will be grateful. |
I know I should and I try.
The quilts are wonderful |
