Potholders

This is what I've been practicing my binding on. I just keep making more and more. They get a little better each time.

I really like the pot holders, and your colors. I like to sew the back of my binding on by hand, do you? Why not try a table topper, placemats or a doll quilt to branch out a little bit. Good luck.

On a quilt I would probably sew by hand on the back but probably not on potholders.

I hand stitched them all to the back. I tried machine sewing, but it turned out terrible. I was just thinking about place mats. I have to admit, I'm getting tired of pot holders. lol I've been trying things that don't take a lot to put together, so I can get to the binding part faster. ;)

You used pretty coordinating fabrics for the potholders - and the corners on your bindings are very respectable!

All are very pretty and you certainly did a great job.

They are looking good. When I do potholders I put my binding on "back to front" so to speak and sew it down by machine on the front. I hope the quilt police do not catch up with me:shock:

Your potholders are beautiful. I enjoy making them. I keep several available to share from time to time as "thinking" gifts............Yours so neat........Do you make your binding......?? I do and enjoy too........I include the hanging loop for mine.........Just need to improve on that......Do you have any suggestions for finishing the hanging loop.

Happy Quilting

Your potholders are so pretty. I loved the fabrics you used. And they are peerfect for a gift.

They look good to me! Are you also adding a loop for hanging?

No, I couldn't figure out how to do the binding with a loop. I took a poll on FB and got an overwhelming response that many don't use the loops at all, so I left them off.

Your potholders are very nice. I love the colors. I sew potholders when I'm stressed and don't want to work on a quilt. I keep them made up for gifts. Everyone knows on Mother's Day and Christmas that's what they are getting from me. haha I don't put on the loops because most everyone I know keeps them in a drawer. I machine sew the binding onto the back, then machine sew it on the front. Seems to work better for me. I'm not entering them in any contest, I'm just trying to make something useful. If the quilt police ever came to my house, they would haul away everything I have cause I don't do anything that would pass the perfection test. haha
