I just used 1 layer and the potholders seem to be plenty thick. These were the first ones I ever tried, but I think on the next ones I'll add a loop of fabric strap in the corner in case they want to hang them on the wall in the kitchen.

I got this book too, after henry parrish showed his copy. It has goregeous potholders in it. I was thinking that if I also made a matching apron, I could use one as a pocket too.
