Made two pairs of potholders. On one set I used binding and the other set I turned. Definitely prefer the turning method -- not only did they come out better, they were way less work.
They are the same fabrics...the pictures look different due to the lighting. With binding Turned |

Question to you and others making potholders -- They are so lovely, but do you actually use them? I really need some new potholders, but if they looked as nice as yours, I wonder if I'd use them or be afraid of getting them dirty!!!
|
I love them! They are both really nicely done. As for getting dirty you can always make more which gives you a reason to quilt if you need another reason! LOL
I added this to the miniatures in the Virtual Section. |

You are right -- a lot of work (in these pieced potholders) for something that will get dirty and laundered frequently. Probably best to use cute fabric and minimal piecing. |
Very cute :D:D:D

Those are great!
My mom made potholders a couple years ago for Christmas gifts. I had a friend come over and she was shocked that I would use them! I told her my mom would be more upset if I put them away and never used them! Another thing to add to my "to do" list! LOL! Maybe a way to use up "practice" pieces! |
How fun! I enjoy making pot holders too!

Would you give a little crash course in 'turning' the potholders, please? |
