Practice block table top

A while back, I had asked the QB to help me with ideas on how to use a batik cracker package. Several suggested a pattern that makes a false cathedral window.by using 5 ten inch crackers.
I thought it would be a good idea to practice on scraps as I did not want to "ruin" the batik squares, which were expensive- sure glad I did his as the windows in the block came out a bit wonky due to the bias. so now, I am open to other ideas for the batik 10 inch fabric squares of which I have 40. Any other ideas. The fabrics are from hoffman's wild berry collection. Thanks |
Great idea. I love your sample piece. What size squares is a "cracker" pack?
|
Hoffman's carries pre- cut 10 inch squares called " crackers" that are sold in packages of 40 squares. The practice quilt here was made out of 5 inch squares and the entire block ends up to be 9 inches.

Looks great.

I don't see 'wonky'. I see 'Wow'!! Maybe if you starch heavily, the bias may be easier to handle?

Thanks! Never thought of starch! Great idea!

Marti Michell Has a pattern Scrappy Sedona Stars that would be wonderful done in batiks. There are some photos at this site. http://www.frommarti.com/sedonastar.shtml. I saw a video of Marti making the quilt, I believe it was on Quilters TV. However I cannot find it. Looking forward to seeing whatever you do with your Batiks. |
i love it!

Your 10" squares are perfect for a twister quilt. My first one I used batik and it turned out beautifully.
