Progress on Prairie Star

1 Attachment(s)
This is a Judy Niemeyer Prairie Star. All the large points are done except for 3 pieces (ran out of one fabric!). Next is all the little points around the outside border. The pieces between the points are last because the directions say to just use whatever "darks" are left over for the little star points and flying geese.

It's really pretty easy so far, just straight paper piecing, but I know it's going to get harder with all those inset seams.

It turned out great so far, it looks like it would be hard to make. I have been wanting to try paper piecing, but haven't
had a chance to make one yet. I made an original block that I turned in at Walmart and won first place, and the inset
was very difficult at first. Until I found out you must start, and stop at the quarter inch seam allowance. Then it was easy. I made one star in the middle, and four stars in the corners, it was a red, white, and blue block. I won a $25.00
gift certificate, and the block was added to other winners at other Walmarts. They said they were going to auction off the quilt, but I never heard any thing else about it. Hope you don't have any trouble with the rest of the quilt. I would love to see it finished. Keep up the good work.

it is beautfiul

The colors aren't exactly right. The burgundy doesn't stand out so much in person. I had to lighten the picture (taken last night), adjust the tone, saturation, etc. because it was too dark.

Gorgeous colors. You have a knack for picking the right colors for a pattern.

I love all of Judy Niemeyer's patterns. They are absolutely gorgeous. Your quilt is stunning. Can't wait to see it finished. Hopefully I'll get to make one some time. In the mean time, I'll just keep on drooling. :D Thank you for sharing. :)

This is about 9 hours of cutting. All of the background pieces (on the left) were done last weekend, 3 hours each day. All the darks were done today, another 3 hours. The stacks have as much as 4 of each color, up to 24 pieces.

Everything is labeled and ready to do the spikes all around the outside edge of the quilt.
