Do you ever get to the other parts of the house???? Love the glass of wine...nice touch
|
Andrea, I'm sooo jealous!!! That room turned out great and I love all your older machines and teddies! Your wall hangings look great...I might just leave them up even when the walls get fixed! Thanks so much for sharing your room!
|
everything looks fantastic! You did a great job!
|
Congrats on a super sewing space. It's so much more fun when you have a nice place to work in. (I know, because my house right now just doesn't have enough room.)

yes I do get to see other parts of the house, but now that I have finally got my sewing room set up this weekend, I'll be playing here mostly! ooh and of course my kitchen! |
Thank you for such a wonderful tour of your life and sewing room.
Pictures say more than words can. Your creativity is awe inspiring. I love your Bear collection. Where will you put a small fridge? Deara |

Andrea, I just love all the little touches, around the quilty stuff, best of both worlds. As for the walls, I'm getting that you feel they have to go, but I like them! You can't see my walls, lol! I love everything about this room, esp. the stash! woo hoo, you have quite a bit going on there, too!
So lovely to have your mum there too, and so great that you can talk and share quilting! That's the best. :D |
I love everything about it and the quilts are so beautiful.
|
Oh my gosh, it is fantastic! I love it. The trinket box is fabulous. You are going to have such a great time in that wonderful room. I am happy for you!
|
What a great creative space! I would have a blast in there! Congratulations on a beautiful room. Now go make something!
|
It's a great room! You did a really good job of organizing it. Wanna come do mine for me?! :D
|
Wow -- what a nice room!!! I love it!! Looks like you are sew organized!!
|
Aggi--it's awesome!! What a cozy place!! Great stash. My favorite piece is the cabin wall hanging. Looks hard--I bet it's paper pieced. :D
Wishing you many creative hours in there. |
Congratulations on your new house and great sewing room. Isn't it nice to have a place for everything?? Here's wishing you much enjoyment!!!
|
WOOHOO!!!!! Congratulations on your new space! Looks great! Love the little sewing trinket boxes, too cute! And, yes please, I would like some sangria!! :D
|
That's wonderful Andrea! So happy that you've finally have your space!
Can we have one more overall shot of the room... say from the staircase looking into the room? |
I see the wine glass! Have you been drinking on the job? or is that Kool Aid? :-)
Very nice room. I agree, it is a long time to wait buy boy, doesn't feel good to finally have it? |
WOOOOHOOOOO!!! Congrats on your wonderful sewing room. Doesn't it feel good to be organized? I bet that you go in there and just stand and smile. My guest room was the last room to finish after I moved. It only took 3 years to get the last boxes out of there. I go in there three or four times a week and just look and feel good. My next goal is to make quilts for the two beds in there and a couple of wall hangings. Then, they will have to surgically remove that grin from my face.

Andrea, that room is so nice. You have certainly utilized every inch of space in that room. Isn't it great to be in your own home and do what you want? And to have Mum right down stairs - would love to be near my daughters!
We are moving sometime soon and I too will have a dedicated sewing studio and can't wait! Diet coke wouldn't look too bad in the wine glass either, would it? |

I started up a couple new projects last night, although I probably won't get to play with them til the weekend as I have housework tonight, Mum and I are going to Cirque du Soleil Wednesday night, Thursday I have my work social club surf and turf bbq, then back that evening to meet up with our Thursday sewing group just to have tea and dessert, then that takes us to Friday again!! whew!!! now that the room is set up, I now have to find the time to actually SEW!!! LOL!! I have big plans for my room and the ideas are swimming around. It's a shame I have to work in the day time! :( Yes Alexi is a big sook! She has to be on your lap all the time or cuddling in bed between Trevor and I. She loves to sleep under the covers. She will be a good bed warmer when the winter gets here again! LOL |
I just keep coming back to look at your great room to see if I've over-looked anything and to see which of your ideas I can use. One thing I am wondering about is where do you place your pieces to design your quilts? I don't have the space for a design wall (unless I would hang it from the ceiling in front of the closet wall). What I usually do is place a sheet over the bed and lay all of my pieces on that. Then when it's time to use the bed, I roll the pieces up in the sheet.

wow! thanks for the tour. only one problem that i see.. its too clean. i think we all need to play at your house. :D looks great hun. so comfy

Another idea you can do for your design wall is to find a long tube at your local fabric store they use for rolling fabrics and to roll your design wall in that. Then you can store it in a corner and can take it with you anywhere and all your pieces will stay in place :) hmm just reread your message, you do that now!! LOL sigh... I'm at work so my mind is in a zillion different directions... but hey I still need my dose of this forum even here at work throughout the day!!! LOL Actually the electrical panel is on the ride hand side of the Grapevine wreath. That WH is almost in the corner of that wall, so the wall you don't see is where I'll be putting the design wall. I'm so glad you enjoy looking at my space! I'm loving every minute of being in there now and yes I am willing to share my ideas with anyone here in the room! I'm always seeing ideas from other people's sewing rooms that I want to put into mine! I still have plans for that big storage shelf by my sewing machine, but in time. Right now it is still to messy to me! I need organization in my life LOL. I love looking at organization books! I have a book specifically for sewing rooms! I'll take a look through the book tonight to see if I can see any other ideas about design walls! Cheers! Andrea |

Thanks so much for the detailed reply. Actually I think the fabric roll would do well, because with the sheet it actually is just folded up and stashed away. The roll would prevent so much wrinkling. Great idea, thanks. I like your idea of canvas yardage. Have never really looked for that, so I don't know the width of the piece. I was just thinking about getting a good quality flannel-backed vinyl tablecloth. I have a cheapo one right not and it really doesn't work. Someone on the board recommended getting a higher end in quality because they worked better. Oooh, I've got 'freesONs" just thinking about how much I am learning from all of you great people. (FreesONs is a Cajun French term for "goosebumps" or gooseflesh. It's meaning more or less connotates that chilly feeling. It really loses something in the interpretation.

hey Gail - that's French French as well only they write 'frisson'!
|
It looks great. From the looks of the items hanging on the walls you got plenty accomplished even without your new sewing room.
