I finally got up the nerve to make McKenna Ryan's Home Tweet Home that I have had for years. The laser cut blocks were the way to go, however, I discovered I didn't order the entire kit so was left without sashing and border fabrics. I used the scraps from the umbre block backgrounds and combined them with a seafoam and lavender batik I found online. It worked and I like it better than her original! The difficulty was stitching all those tiny, tiny appliqued pieces down with invisible thread only to have a few "pop" off as soon as the larger Tiara size 14 needle hit them. Some weren't much bigger than the head of a pin! Quilting patterns are always a dilemma for me. Not only what to put where, but what can I do well enough. If I can draw it, I can usually quilt it, so that is what I did with a frixion pen, since this wall hanging can't really be washed. The embellishments like yarn for nesting, and beads for flower centers, and eyes were the finishing touch. It hangs proudly above my Tiara in my sewing room. Next on the agenda is something simpler with more immediate gratification LOL Hope you enjoy.

Great job on the quilting! Cute wallhanging, I have made a few of her patterns....lots of fiddly pieces but fun designs.

Sweet tweets!

that is cute! And your quilting stitches are to die for. I have dreams that someday I'll be able to do that quality.
|
This is just so pretty! I love it.

That's absolutely gorgeous! Your color choices from your stash finished it out perfectly. I would never have the patience to work with pieces that small nor do I have the gift/talent that you have to make such an outstanding, award worthy wall hanging. Thank you so much for sharing it with us & the close up pictures.

Anything you complete by McKenna Ryan is to be considered a masterpiece. I think that lady sits up nights thinking how can I make my patterns more complex! I completed one of her's quite awhile ago and I can't remember the pattern or what I did with it. Must have been brain dead by the time I finished it. I do know that your's is much prettier than mine. I love it and especially how you personally added your touch. Ready to start another one?

Everything about it is absolutely gorgeous.

Congrats! I am happy you hung this lovely work of art where you can enjoy seeing it!

Beautiful is not enough to describe your wonderful quilt. The colors, the applique, the quilting are all amazing. Congratulations.
|
Fabulous job!! And you should be proud. It is just wonderful.
Love your feathers and the cornerstone flower in the corners. I too have had fusible applique pop up/off when quilting on the LA. I have also had the needle simply split the fabric because the applique piece was so tiny it really wasn't more than a half dozen threads wide! Very nerve wracking. |
Very nice, love the quilting.
|
Beautiful treasure. You should be very proud of this creation...
|
This is so beautiful!
|
Turned out great. I love the softness of the colors.
|
