I made a couple of purses for gifts recently. One is made from upholstery scraps and the other one is made from jean scraps with machine embroidery on it.

The pattern wasn't really written very well (IMHO) but was really easy once you get in to it. The upholstery material purse was my first ever purse. This may give me confidence to try a different pattern next time.

Like I said earlier I don't feel the instructions are great but I believe anyone that has sewn can figure them out. The purse is basically made from 17, 5 1/2" squares and if you see the pattern I changed the straps from 2 to one.
The pattern is called "The Cross Town Carry" Maggie's Bag. The pattern is by Marlous Designs and I bought it at the Engine House Quilt Shop in Berne, Indiana. I have web sites for the pattern and the quilt shop but not sure if I am allowed to post them? If you would like that info pm me.
