I finally finished my way too bright quilt that I made using the String Me Along pattern. I finished hand sewing the binding on tonight. I had trouble getting any good pics since I didn't have anyone to hold it so this is the best I could do.

Here's Darby modeling with the quilt.

Here's the quilt on my bed so maybe you can see the design better.

This is the largest quilt I've done without using Marti Mitchell's quilting in sections technique. It measures about 63 x 90. I pieced it on my Juki 2200 Mini and my Featherweight. I FMQ'd it on the Juki. I just did loop de loop's because I wasn't sure how hard it would be to quilt this big quilt. I was amazed it wasn't bad at all with the big harp on the Juki.

Great job on the fun bright quilt! Darby is a terrific model!

Beautiful! I love the colors.

What a great looking quilt. It looks like it has passed all of Darby's inspections. Is quilting in sections similar to quilt as you go?

I've never done QAYG so I'm not really sure. I used her system to quilt a king size quilt on my 25 year old Bernina with the tiny harp. She shows a couple of ways you can do it so it's pretty versatile.

Fun quilt!

I love that quilt! Not too bright... that black "galaxy" fabric really tames the colors. Love that pattern.

And look at Darby! What an adorable pup. So glad you weren't dogless when you lost Cash.

Forgot to say... I started quilting with an old Bernina too, with a tiny harp space: My Bernina 830 from 1970. Then I got my Juki 2010Q, basically the same machine as your 'mini', and did my fmq on that machine for years. I learned on it! So you and I have similar machine histories. :o

Last Spring I bought the Juki 2200 sit down longarm and it was just like fmqing on the 2010Q... only bigger with more room. So if you want to go bigger, you might consider one. It has the auto thread cutter just like the smaller machines.

We had already adopted Blue last summer so no danger of being dogless here. lol

I have thought about the long arm sit down, but my sewing rooms are so crowded now, I'm not sure where I'd put it. As it is the 2 FW's have to live under the sewing table in their cases when I'm not using them because I've run out of space to have machines set up. But it would be really nice. For now, I'm just going to go with the 2200 mini. It was easier to do this quilt than I thought it would be. I was very happy.

That’s gorgeous- not too bright at all. I love the way the colors pop against the black and your model looks good on it!

When I first got my PQ1500S which is the same size as your Juki I was surprised at how much easier it was to do a big quilt. You’re going to love having that machine.
