I would love to have the pattern for the puzzle quilt.First time I have seen it.Can I get the pattern from you.

Quilt4u 02-27-2010 06:35 AM

Very nice.

Zephyr 02-27-2010 06:36 AM

I bought my pattern at a quilt shop. It is called Quilter's Puzzle by eQuiltPatterns.com. I made mine longer and wider because he is quite tall. Also he has a form of Autism and their symbol is the missing puzzle piece.

See page 1, 2nd post by me, Excel file attached.

MillieH 02-27-2010 07:15 AM

Well, duh...I never thought of using Excel to plan a block pattern. Thanks for showing me this!

SaraSewing 02-27-2010 07:35 AM

Your quilt is beautiful. I haven't made a jigsaw puzzle (yet), but I love how they turn out.

lakelily 02-27-2010 07:44 AM

you do realize that the blue piece doesn't fit into the puzzle, right?

pamsmpk 02-27-2010 11:21 AM

I love this quilt...so cute and I agree about the edges. I think that's what has always bothered me about the traditional pattern. I think if it were me...I might just applique the blue piece onto the border and be done with it. That way you could twist and turn and get it exactly where you want it.

chris_quilts 02-27-2010 12:33 PM

Is there any particular color/fabric you will use on the border? Great job on the quilt and I love the color combo.

MISHNJIM 02-27-2010 02:40 PM

Loving the quilt...You did an AWESOME job!!! Getting involved with this site is so getting me into trouble..LOL There is so many ideas from everyone.

RuthieLynn 02-27-2010 04:37 PM

That is great. Can I have the name of the pattern and who makes it?

Hey, that last blue piece doesn't fit!

Quilter7x 02-27-2010 08:37 PM

Lucy, I love the puzzle pattern and have downloaded your Excel spreadsheet. Your colors are excellent!

Zephyr, I really like how you put the puzzle pieces into the border.

Great quilts, both of you. :)

I love it! I use paint to "cut" the fabric swatch, and then move it into Excel. It gives me more mobility to try different borders/etc than if I just used paint on its own

I tried applique a few times and it didn't work out right. I mean, really, I just needed to stick with it and practice, but it's so much faster to do piecework. Anyway, yeah, I think that is a wonderful idea and I will be brave and applique the piece on. That has to be simpler than my 4 square + 4 triangle + border cuts... thank you for your comments - I will definitely consider applique

Love the quilt! My grandson (mildly autistic btw) absolutely loves puzzles. My daughter and I got some of the autism awareness fabric from Hobby Lobby this afternoon to make him a pillow. Now I'm going to HAVE to make him a puzzle quilt for Christmas!

JCL in FL 02-27-2010 10:55 PM

I couldn't down load the pattern any help on that?

So with the measurements provided by a few people on the board (thank you!) I redesigned the quilt to look more like a puzzle to me.

It's going to have a border all around it, which will include that blue piece off to the side . So imagine my wood floor is the border to get an idea of it. I'm just waiting to get some $$ to afford the border, since it'll be about 10" around. I might do different size border strips, but that's a 'for when I have $' concern.

That is a very neat quilt. thank you for sharing. Penny

How about a JPEG? Hit download for a bigger version of the picture. Each square is 1".

You can DL a free open-source Excel -> Open Office. It opens all Microsoft Office files, lets you create files that can be opened in MS Office, and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg...

LindaR 02-28-2010 09:45 AM

got it thanks

I am super late to this post, but wondering about the cutting requirements for the fat quarters for these squares?

Thank you. This is an AWESOME pattern. My nephew (grown adult) loves puzzles and wants a quilt. This will be a perfect surprise.

twinkie 11-07-2014 03:18 AM

WOW I just love your bright colors.

Jordan 11-07-2014 05:41 AM

Love it! You did a great job and very creative with that missing last piece. Can't wait to see the finished product.

suzee 11-07-2014 06:24 AM

What a great quilt! I love the colors and it is beautifully executed!

earthwalker 11-07-2014 06:40 AM

Is there no end to the genius! Very cool quilt....will be stunning when done.

Boston1954 11-08-2014 08:04 AM

Terrific! Love the colors you used. What a cute idea having one piece not in with the rest. You are doing a great job.

Sunny580 11-08-2014 08:52 AM

Great job, suzy

ube quilting 11-08-2014 11:53 AM

I really like your puzzle quilt and the idea to have the last piece in the border. Please take a close look at the blue block and the blank place where it looks like it is going to fit into. :D
peace

If the point is that it doesn't fit then it just looks like a mistake to me. I don't understand the doesn't fit idea. If it is the last piece of the puzzle, it has to fit or the the puzzle maker made a mistake.??????????????????
peace

please explain

mamabear1 12-07-2014 03:57 PM

The jig saw pattern in quilts has also the pattern for autism and I have a young grandson I want to make this quilt for but am having trouble finding this pattern. I love the loose piece and want to make this for him. Would you please tell me how to find and get this pattern? Hope you can help me.

mamabear1 12-07-2014 04:03 PM

If the name of this quilt is "Trying To Fit In" that is exactly what a person with autism feels all the time. They are some-times treated like they are different so are trying to fit in. It is sometimes said that "when all the pieces fit" they may have more explanations for autism and, consequently, more help for them. It is being diagnosed in larger numbers now.

KARENBOUTQUILTIN 12-29-2014 05:01 PM

Love it; love the color selection as well!

Auntevie 12-29-2014 06:31 PM

I'd love to see it finished with the border!

heather1949 12-31-2014 09:52 PM

Wow that is just stunning!!! :)

Ninotchka 12-02-2017 05:53 PM

Where might I obtain a pattern for this puzzle quilt? Thank you, Ninotchka
