Pythagoras' Lute

I used the paper pieced pattern for the center, then expanded and added a border with more "stars" in it.

I did an "all over" computer quilt design, and the stitching ended up going through the exact center of the quilt. Could not have planned that if I'd tried LOL!!

What a great creation. Your border treatment is superb. This is a challenging pattern.

the stars are amazing

zozee 04-30-2017 01:35 PM

What a cool looking design! I haven't seen anything like this quilt. Is it for you?

Macybaby 04-30-2017 02:04 PM

zozee, I did not have anyone in mind when I made this quilt. Sometimes I get a bit attached to them in the process and then have to hang on to them for a while before I'm ready to send them to a new home.

Beautiful! Pythagoras' Lute is on my bucket list. I like your idea of extending it from a pentagon to a "normal" quilt shape and size!

DebraK 05-01-2017 05:38 AM

cool quilt!

Macybaby 05-01-2017 05:43 AM

this pattern isn't as difficult as it looks. It's sewn in 10 wedges, and they are then put together.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psn3habtmd.jpg

Just a lot of paper piecing and keeping track of the colors. Each "piece" only uses the two matching colors, and they are in opposing pairs, so you'd sew Pink/red/pink and the other would be red/pink/red.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psgvkdqbdt.jpg

The tricky part is laying them all out so each wedge is assembled correctly.
