The scalloped edge is pretty easy as long as you keep the scallop shallow. I did a row of machine stitching 1/4 " from the cut edge of the scallop and then clipped the the inside of the scallop to that stitched edge. You have to use bias binding and stitch with your walking foot. As you approach the inside of the scallop (which you clipped) you spread it open so the edge of the quilt is almost straight. If you do too deep of a scallop, it's much harder to bind. My scallops were so shallow that I didn't have to miter at all
