Quilts are from the heart. Once it's cut, it should be really cute.

Can't wait to see the finished watermelon quilt. It should be beautiful.

Babies love bright colors. Show us a picture when you finish! Can't wait to see it.

I think it's lovely! It will co-ordinate with all the pink that she is bound to attract - so it won't seem inappropriately adult when she's little - and yet she will be able to keep it, and keep on enjoying it, as she grows older.
It's a wonderful present to the young mum too ... whatever her decisions and her reasoning she has had a tought time already and will have more tough times to come and this is a practical yet beautiful gift for someone who is definitely now 'an adult' and starting out on her 'adult life' one way or another. Go for it! Helen |
I like the watermelon - looks like your colors will play well together and make a very happy quilt. The Ohio Rose quilt is beautiful!

I think your idea is perfect for a Baby Girl, bright fabrics will give her something to look at, in a few months or weeks.
I really love the the second one, love the pattern and colors. |
It'd be interesting to see the watermelon as a OBW.

Since I live in NC, I will say that fabric is perfect for a new NC baby! Watermelon is a favorite sweet treat treat here, and I think any Mom would be happy with a watermelon quilt for her new baby girl!!
