Quick star quilt

1 Attachment(s)
I whipped this quick quilt up to teach my son to use the longarm. I used some layer cakes I had to make half square triangles then trimed the solid squiares to 9.5". The quilt measures 84" square. It has minky on the back that I found for $12.00 a yard and 90" wide! I used thin poly batting and the quilt is nice and warm.

my son used the computer to quilt it. It took 5 hours of instruction to finish it. I think he has more respect for the difficulting of quilting now.

Very nice, how old is your son? you both did a great job, and how nice that he wants to learn.

Terrific quilt! Neat that your son is interested in quilting. :)

My son is 25. We had a little misshape with the machine. The hopping foot got caught in the batting and broke the needle. Then the machine started knocking. Thankfully we were on the last row towards the end. My husband fixed the machine this morning so all is good.

Beautiful job! I really like that your son worked with you on this. When my son and I do a joint project, usually for my DH, we both feel great and it keeps the bond strong.

ladydukes 11-25-2014 12:14 PM

He is doing a great job, and following in his Mom's footsteps. There's some famous men quilters!!

Great quilt and quilting! Only 5 hours of instruction? I'm still learning after 4 years, and the quilting on the quilt is terrific!

#1piecemaker 11-25-2014 07:15 PM

Great job!! Wish I could get my son interested in quilting!

Great quilt , all the family how nice.

JoyjoyMarie 11-26-2014 09:11 AM

Very nice project, and isn't it true, that we much more appreciate stuff we have tried to do ourselves. (Our Jr. Hi PE teacher made us play football, albeit girl style - that's how I truly learned how the game goes). So glad you and your son are enjoying playing together ;)
