Quick Strippie Donation Quilts

These two Strippies are from the pattern on MaryQuilts.com . They make a nice big throw quilt, 42" x 55". These are for hospital patients, one for a man and one for a woman. :o

LavenderBlue 07-14-2016 04:47 PM

Very nice. It is a pattern I plan to use soon. ;-)

Thanks for sharing. I have some large chicken print fabric that I keep looking at, then don't make because I can't decide on a pattern. Love the fabric and hated to cut it up. This is the perfect solution. And its my favorite size, too! I know its supposed to be a donation pattern but I'm going to make it and donate it to "me." LOL Your quilts are lovely and will make someone very happy! Thanks for the website.

Yes, it's very rewarding... Our charity quilting group gets some of the most touching thank you letters! I love donating.

Forgot to mention what a great stashbuster this quilt is! I cut out four of them at one time and was able to use things I had in my stash for too long. As Jan mentioned, it's wonderful for large prints you don't want to cut. I usually select a large print for the widest stripes, then a smaller print or tonal for the medium stripes, then a contrasting solid for the skinny stripes. It takes me about an hour to make the top, including cutting time. Quilting... not so quick. But at least the piecing is fast.

That is a pretty quilt, and sure will be appreciated. :)

DOTTYMO 07-14-2016 10:34 PM

They are both beautiful.

ManiacQuilter2 07-15-2016 01:44 AM

Interesting pattern. You used very attractive fabrics. Job well done.

QuiltnNan 07-15-2016 02:18 AM

nicely done

ontheriver 07-15-2016 05:19 AM

Great quilts and a perfect way to showcase fabrics you don't want to cut up. That for the idea.

alikigirl 07-15-2016 05:26 AM

What a great way to use novelty prints. I will have to look through my stash for a fun print.

I just made two this morning. I used two totally different fabric sets. I cut extra accent strips to add at top, bottom and sides- as faux binding. I'm going to make a reversible quilt by using both tops and birthing it. It took longer to choose fabrics than to make the tops! Love this pattern. Thanks again.

brandeesmom 07-15-2016 11:35 AM

What nice strip quilts! I've been wanting to do one of these.

copycat 07-16-2016 03:39 AM

Beautiful Quilts! Thank you for posting the link to the Quick Strippie pattern. Your quilts look so snuggly. I like the loft of your batting. Do you remember what type of batting you used? Thank you and Happy Quilting!

twinkie 07-16-2016 03:47 AM

Very nice donation quilts. Great way to use a focus fabric.

Teacup 07-16-2016 03:56 AM

I've used this pattern several times...love it! Yours turned out great.

jamsbuying 07-16-2016 04:00 AM

Great quilts! Like the quick pattern.

tkhooper 07-16-2016 04:21 AM

perfect use for the fishing fabric. My dad would love that. I'll have to keep it in mind.

dinlauren 07-16-2016 04:51 AM

Great way to use nice prints like that. The fishing one is terrific and wouldn't be easy to figure out another pattern to use it with so you didn't miss out on the wonderful pictures. Some man is going to be in heaven with that. And of course, who can go wrong with florals...great job on both!!

red-warrior 07-16-2016 06:24 AM

Both are great and it is so kind of you to do them! I am a nurse and can picture the nurses gathering, just as you
described.

Mariposa 07-16-2016 06:58 AM

Terrific quilts! A nice gift to make someone feel special. You do lovely work! ** Love that print in the guy quilt too! :)

tessagin 07-16-2016 07:17 AM

I used a poly batting I get by the roll from Marshall's Dry Goods in AR. I buy the thinnest loft they carry, and it's still pretty 'poufy'. It does make a cuddly quilt.

Great quilts.

kaylfordsollimo 07-16-2016 04:20 PM

Very nice - especially like the man's fabric here.

redquilter 07-16-2016 04:23 PM

Very nice quilts and very nice of you to donate them. They will not only warm a person's body, but their heart as well to know that an unknown person cared enough to make a quilt for them. Thanks for the pattern.

nannyrick 07-16-2016 05:38 PM

Very nice!!! I love them.

jmoore 07-17-2016 03:07 AM

Both are great donation items and I'm sure your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated...thank you for sharing your wonderful strippie idea and photos.

mjhaess 07-23-2016 07:50 AM

Great donations...

DresiArnaz 07-24-2016 07:24 AM

I didn't look at the pattern, but it looks like you could QAYG using a serger.

Perfect for novelty fabric that you'd hate to cut up.

Very nice.
