There are several others combinations for "hand-stitched" on the Janome forum, in the Files.

I used Mode 2, Stitch 23, stitch length 5. I tried 22, 23, 24...but liked this one best. You really have to experiment a bit (maybe quite a bit), especially with the tension. Some people find they have to set the tension all the way up; others do not. There are also potential problems with the (transparent) monofilament thread stretching (I actually set the thread in a jar off to the side of the machine, giving it a chance to relax a little before making it to the needle).

Did you know there's a yahoo group specifically for owners of the Janome 6500/6600? Lots of help there. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Janome6500

Thanks, Katrine, for the link to the official Janome learning center!

Thanks both of you! I'll have a play, I've got a warm wishes top that is kind of oldy worldy looking in toile de jouy and blue and whites and think this might suit it! I joined the Janome forum (at least I think I did!) but haven't received a confirmation email - I'll check into it.

Love your fabric and quilting. It does look hand done. I have to try that pattern some day.

The colors are beautiful and I love that pattern. How did you put it together so fast? My first "Trip around the world" I sewed pieces together by hand, took forever of course.
