Quick Trip

I love Eleanor Burns. This is one of her Quick Trip Quilts. And yes, you can make it in a few hours (the top, anyway). The photos do not show the entire quilt. There is a border that I did not get in the shot. Maybe when I finish quilting the border I'll get a shot of the whole thing. And I quilted it on my vintage Featherweight.

Looks great! I'm impressed that you quilted it on the featherweight. I too love the Quick Trip pattern.

Very pretty. You are inspiring me to learn to do feathers.

I love the fabrics and colors. You do absolutely wonderful work quilting. I is amazing to imagine your doing those beautiful patterns on your featherweight.

Beautiful quilting and a lovely quilt.

Your colors and quilting are just excellent. How did you ever do the quilting on the FW? I have one and am just mastering SID!!!

Tweety2911 07-25-2012 06:25 PM

Very pretty and love the choice of colors. Beautiful quilting as well!

Beautiful quilt of colors! I think I have a few of the same fabrics. Good job quilting it on a feather weight! That would be a challenge for me.

Neesie 07-25-2012 06:38 PM

The secret to any free motion work is practice. I teach FMQ and tell my students to expect to practice about a hundred hours before you feel confident. Stitch in the ditch is best done with a SID foot; it is harder to do with a darning foot, but I did it that way for years until I discovered the SID feet.
Also, this is a small quilt, so it is very easy to maneuver.

Featherweights just straight up rock, don't they? I wouldn't sew on anything else! I love your TATW! I have that book & need to get the show on the road on one. I think one can be made from FQ's if I remember correctly. I love yours! Thanks for the inspiration!

leatheflea 07-26-2012 06:12 AM

The fabrics are wonderful! I would have never put them together, but they work great together!

Love your quilt and the Quick Trip pattern. Have made 4 of them. See my Avatar.

quilter1943 07-26-2012 06:19 AM

Very pretty and I agree, they are quick and look amazing. Still have one to quilt (I couldn't stop myself after I bought the book!) and love the feathers you quilted. I'm going to dig mine out and put it on the quilting pile. Thanks for sharing. It's quite lovely.
