Quillow for my great nephew

A quillow is a quilt with a pocket on one side. You fold the quilt into the pocket to make a pillow. This quillow size is 39.5 x 65 . I used minke for the backside. The pattern I used came from Fons and Porter's book Fun Quilts for kids of all ages. Summer 2007. This is a great quilt to use up novelty prints you don't want to cut and piece.

Your quillow is very nice and will be loved! I made several of these a few years ago.

Probably about 15 years ago when I was still working and knew nothing about quilts, I decided I wanted to make a
quillow for my nephew. I couldn't understand why you would use such thin batting, I mean weren't you suppose to get warm under a quilt? Well, I did it my way and just imagine how hard it was to fold that sucker with the thickest batting I could find. My nephew ripped the thing trying to undo and refold that thing. A close friend and I still laugh about it. I've learned a few things about quilting since.

That is a good story. I worried about the thickness of my quillow also, since I used batting and minky backing.
I do think it challenging to fold it back into the pillow. There is a utube video that shows how to fold a quillow into the pocket. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Every quilting project has an adventure.

Adults like them too. When I made one for my nephew, my sister hinted that the "next time" I felt like making one, she'd like one. She would "borrow" her son's quillow for watching TV. She'd put her feet in the pocket for warmth.;o)
