Quilt for childhood buddy
2 Attachment(s)
A girlfriend I’ve known since we were toddlers asked me to make her a quilt. So I made one as a Christmas gift. I had wanted to try out a lattice style pattern. The block construction cut off these huge corners. So as I sewed a square onto the rectangle, I added a seam a half inch from the the other. When I cut the corners, I had half square triangles. I played with the HSTs and left over rectangles and scraps on the back. I ended up liking the back better than the front. ;) Please forgive the quilting. I tried a diagonal seam and basting spray. Neither of which turned out beautiful.....but I made it with ❤️ and she loves the quilt. Thanks for looking.

That is really beautiful.
I love the color combination you used. Janelle |
I like the big squares. I bet it went together quickly. Nice quilt. :)

Very nice quilt and your friend will enjoy it and it will be such a treasure for her. Your backing is fantastic and so creative.

Wonderful quilt. It calls out to you. We get to wrapped up in the latest and greatest sometimes that we forget all about simplicity. Simple functional quilts is what it's all about. Not that it's that simple but deceivingly makes you think it is. Thanks for posting.

Very pretty quilt. If you both like it that is all that matters.

Very pretty... So sweet for a friend...

Both sides are great! The back has a very modern flair.

Oh the looks great. love the fabrics you used too. the back is great also as you said. the quilting looks very good to me. no problem with it being loved.
|
What a lovely finish and gift...the fabrics give it a real cozy feel. Great job.
|
I really like the scale of your lattice quilt. Your basting looks great. I don't see any wrinkles or puckers. I'd call it a success.
|
I love it too! It's wonderful and looks so snuggly.
|
It looks good. I can see it being used and loved to death!

Also, story behind the story. My friend’s grandma was a very religious, spiritual woman. She was also a Quilter. She said God called out to her to make a quilt for someone particular. For her, quilting was spiritual, and she prayed as she quilted. She’d knock on strangers’s doors and say, “I was told you need this. God Bless.” Recently, I told my friend I’d love to see some of her Grandma’s quilts and was surprised when my friend said, “I don’t have any.” Now, they had a very loving relationship, but I guess God didn’t tell Grandma Owens to make her granddaughter a quilt. So when my friend asked me to make her a quilt, I intuited she wanted a quilt to cuddle under. So simple was good. |
What a nice friend you are to finally give her a quilt of her own.
