Well, I have finished my THIRD quilt! You seasoned pros out there are probably laughing your butts off, having probably finished the multitude of gifts you plan to give out this year!
I am SO PROUD of this and can't wait til they see it...I am secretly hoping they just don't like it, so I can keep it for myself!
I have a public album of the photos, since I can only post three here (and I am over the moon about the entire project!!) here: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredi...5AE&feat=email
I, of course, can point out ALL of the flaws but, I figure that will go into the album I have started so I "grow" with each quilt I make. I am a sewer but have only recently started quilting so this may not be in the "traditional sense" of quilting, as you may all know...forgive me but, I do what I know best and try to apply it to your techniques here.
I SO ENJOY learning from all of you and have to say a BIG THANK YOU to the person who brought my attention to an actual needle that should be used for metallic thread! I have been fighting with it since I started and, fight no more!

"You seasoned pros out there are probably laughing your butts off"

Huh? What? I know my third attempt at making a quilted project didn't look anything like yours, and I've been quilting for 20 years. Your work is creative, thoughtful, and downright wonderful. Pat yourself on the back since we can't but wish we could.

What an awesome job.

JoanneS 12-24-2009 03:54 PM

This is a STUNNING quilt. You chose very difficult fabrics and threads that many of us avoid, and if there are flaws, I don't see them!

ranger 12-24-2009 04:02 PM

Beautiful!!

sewnsewer2 12-24-2009 07:14 PM

Very pretty! What kind of fabric is that silver fabric?

treeboss 12-25-2009 03:47 AM

The silver fabric is very deceptively soft metallic and very tightly woven (not sheer), in a polyester blend. Durable, from past experience and on the flat fold rack at JoAnn's for under $6 a yard!

sewnsewer2 12-25-2009 06:51 AM

Thanks, it sure is pretty!

amma 12-25-2009 07:52 PM

WOW  What a show piece!!! You should be busting your buttons over this quilt :D:D:D

Leota 12-25-2009 07:58 PM

Very Nice work...
I agree with you "hope they don't like it" so you can keep it . :D

jljack 12-25-2009 09:54 PM

Very nice!!! Very detailed work, and great fabric choices.

treeboss 12-26-2009 05:39 AM

Thanks everyone...they really LOVED the quilt and, as sad as I am to see it go, I am more excited to start the next one, now that the holidays are almost over! Just a few more things to tidy up. No two people deserved the love and care that went into that piece and I am very proud to say they will cherish it as I have.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
