You can use any square pattern and just enlarge. I used our shed doors and painted four. They weren't square, but I made them work and from a distance you can't tell they are skewed. I used a primer first, penciled in the outlines of the design, then used two coats of acrylic paint. It has been almost 5 years and they are holding up well. Good luck and have fun. It is only paint, so you can always change it.
