Here is a picture of my first big sized quilt. I have learned many lessons from this and am keeping this the way it is as a reminder of what I can do and what I should remember to do. I know there may be a few people on here disappointed that i didn't rip the rows out that are not in the correct order for the diamond shape but this will be a useful reminder to not get to full of myself as I am quilting and I think it is kinda artsy anyways.

I agree completely that you should keep it the way it is! It is YOUR creation, and who is to say you did not design it this way? Very nice! :)

Some quilters used to put a "humility" block to keep themselves humble. Maybe yours is a humility row. :) My grandson would probably think it was a robot...everything looks like a robot to him! I think you did a very nice job with your piecing. You really are showing great progress!

that's gonna be one awesome couch blanket for you to snuggle with!
It is very gorgeous Henry, and yes, very artsy too, i didnt know the one row that was wrong...was wrong...i thought it was your intent, part of the design, shows what i know lol, your colours and fabrics are beautiful, and it looks very very nice finished, beautiful!

I see that you used the quilted fabric on the back. Did you tie it. If not you might want to because the first time you wash it it will bunch up on you.

One hundred years or more from now they are going to be showing this quilt on tv or whatever medium they have then and discuss the design. If they do not know that that row was a mistake and you've labeled it, they will attribute that row to the fact that you are a man, not many men quilted at this time, and it was a quite possibly this man's way of bucking tradition!
Oooooo, I like that. LOL:)
I think it looks wonderful. All my quilts have something that the quilt police may not think is right, but that makes them mine. An original that I love.
awesome:)
Henry...your quilt is wonderful and it looks like the purfect cuddle blanket for tv and dvd viewing. Good job. Have to tell you, you look sooooooo much like our son everytime I see pictures of you I think this man is our son's twin! I think our son might be a bit heavier than you but the hair, the beard, everything else is the same.
good job!!
I know guys quilt.... I was at wallyworld one day and a guy was there getting material for a 'trip around the world' for his latest grand-daughter!
He uses cotton for the top and instead of batting and backing uses flannel... he said he helped his grandmother make quilts when he was a child and has been making quilts ever since.. He said he makes trip around the world because "it's so easy" I didn't confess that I'd never made one because it looks so hard  |
Wonderful colors. It looks great on you, Henry! I imagine you learn something new with every quilt. I sure do.
:) i enjoyed learning from my grandmother:) I am trying to pass on the knowledge to my nieces.
