What a wonderful & thoughtful daughter you have.

I bet you were sobbing. I would have been. It is such an emotional day all the way around.

How sweet and loving !

mrs. fitz 07-23-2014 07:50 AM

Beautiful couple, wish them many years of happiness; wonderful story and quilt. And as omacookie suggested above, do ask her for any scraps and when the time comes give her a very special baby quilt.

FabStripper 07-23-2014 08:50 AM

What a very special story; thank you for sharing it with us. I agree, only quilty friends will really feel it the way you felt it. Your story brought chills (good chills) to me - what a very special daughter you raised. For her to take on the task of learning YOUR hobby while planning her wedding and end up with such a beautiful tribute to her mother is just so touching. (Bribe her after a year and tell her you'll take one quilt per 9 months instead of babies - she'll start making babies!):girl::boy::D

How special. Just proves we can do anything we want to do, if we want to do it bad enough. They are a beautiful couple, and she is beautiful in her dress and just beautiful in thought, word, deed.
I would be the same way; just cherishing every stitch of that quilt
Keep on loving it and enjoying it!
Marah.

What a beautiful gift for your daughter to give you. Hope she has been bitten by the bug and keeps quilting. Their wedding photo is awesome. Her dress is lovely!

lfstamper 07-23-2014 03:12 PM

What a wonderful story and beautiful quilt and daughter! Lucky you.

peaceandjoy 07-23-2014 03:23 PM

Thank you all for the kind comments. When she was a teenager, I used to say there wasn't enough oxygen in the house and just go for drives. Now, we are best of friends and there is no greater joy. I'm still hoping to get to that point with our younger daughter. ;)

Thanks again!

I couldn't have said it better!

That is fantastic! You must be thrilled. Enjoy your quilt, and tell her that her husband looks like a very nice fellow.

kuntryquilter 07-24-2014 02:24 AM

What a caring & beautiful thing your daughter has done. A memory to last a life time.

mea12 07-24-2014 02:36 AM

I've heard of wedding quilts and made one for my daughter but the idea of a daughter (who does not sew!) making one for her mother is most touching, heart-warming act of love and kindness I've heard in forever. She couldn't have done anything more meaningful to commemorate her day and to show her love for you.

gibbette 07-24-2014 02:42 AM

beautiful bride, beautiful quilt and a beautiful story.

Linda1 07-24-2014 04:31 AM

Your daughter loves you so much and she is a beautiful bride.

EmiliasNana 07-24-2014 05:14 AM

I can completely understand why you can't put it down. What a warm grateful feeling you must have for your special daughter who wanted to gift you something she knew you would absolutely love and cherish. And to think she researched it, took the time and effort to make it (without first knowing how) just to make YOU something special for all the years you served her. Precious!

sewnsewsue 07-24-2014 05:20 AM

Wow, what a surprise! I don't have daughters so will never experience anything like that! Lucky you! I have a son who fully supports my habit. I knew where the wedding was by the photo- the Finger Lakes are beUtiful!

inspectorcmm 07-24-2014 05:21 AM

Aren't daughters precious! A special memory to always share.

quiltmouse 07-24-2014 05:25 AM

A treasure...from a treasure.

A truly touching experience for you. Your daughter is lovely, her dress is so pretty. Really tasteful, flattering, and modest.

I like sexy, don't get me wrong, but the bustier-type dresses do nothing for me.

salisaquilter 07-24-2014 05:25 AM

It is often amazing how our Daughters can surprise us. I am from NY and that looks like the Seneca lake in the background. My daughter has not taken up quilting but she is a giver. Bless u and your daughter.

sewred 07-24-2014 05:43 AM

Aww, " sniffle, sniffle" such a beautiful girl and beautiful thing to do for you!

Taughtby Grandma 07-24-2014 05:44 AM

What a super special idea. Your daughter is beautiful and so is the quilt she made. Both treasures!

nanna-up-north 07-24-2014 06:09 AM

Wow! I can't imagine how special this quilt is. It's beautiful.... just like the bride. Life can't get any better, can it?

WisWis 07-24-2014 07:17 AM

Beautiful couple and quilt. What a good daughter!! I am sure you are proud

SueSew 07-24-2014 10:23 AM

Beautiful quilt you will treasure always. What a wonderful child and a nicer story of mothers and daughters could not be told.
Your daughter is beautiful and in love and what is better!
And I bet she was married in the Finger Lakes, from the lovely photo showing the lake and the hill on the other side. Such a romantic and picturesque spot. Have been up to Aurora area and hope on next trip to see more of the area. Son is being married up there in a couple years.
