Yeah if you did the disappearing 9 patch you could put the green as the center square. It gets cut into 4 tiny squares. And then the other 2 solids on top, below and beside it. The toy story prints in the four corners. Then they wouldn't get cut. My 4 year old is a toy story fanatic too :)

Square in a Square might be one to consider. Its on http://www.quilterscache.com
You could put the pattern fabric as the center squares and the colors around the centers.
No matter what pattern you use, we look forward to seeing pics of the finished quilt and his room!

What about warm wishes and alternate the two prints and use the solids for the rail fence block.

It is on UTUBE go there and follow the directions. I have not done one either but it is wicked easy. You can do it!!! The fabrics are so cute! My first thought was a DP9 also. How funny is that?!

D9P is very easy i tried a block for fun. The fabrics are lovely but i would skip the last dark one on the left because the green is beautiful and will match the green in the toys if you noticed and will brighten your son's room (just a thought :)

That was my thought, exactly, and then I read your post and felt confirmed. :D
