it is gorgeous! :) How long did this take to create?

quilt bee 09-11-2009 12:18 PM

I have been working on it since April. 6 months. Now I have to get it quilted. Any idea how much it costs to get it quilted???

2wheelwoman 09-11-2009 12:22 PM

I've never sent anything out to be quilted, so can't help with that question...but I just had to say WOW. It's breathtaking. Love love love it.

Lisa T 09-11-2009 12:23 PM

This is Gorgeous!! I love it! The colors are so unique for an applique and would go with almost any decor.

I suppose the quilting would depend on who you bring it to and how fancy the quilting is. I would not go cheap with this quilt- it's so pretty!

katier825 09-11-2009 01:30 PM

Wow! That is very pretty! :)

paintedquilt 09-11-2009 02:45 PM

Your quilt is absolutely wonderful. So delicate!

Eddie 09-11-2009 02:49 PM

That is a really beautiful quilt. I love the color scheme. Please show us pics when it's quilted, it's going to be stunning.

sewsewquilter 09-11-2009 05:51 PM

Stunning! Absolutely Stunning. Please post once it's quilted. I have not idea about cost.

Lisanne 09-11-2009 05:54 PM

That is beautiful. The colors came through in the overall shot, not so much in the closeup. Did you try to enlarge the closeup? Could you take a zoom photo of a block or two?

mpspeedy 09-11-2009 06:08 PM

It is spectacular. I would be afraid to quilt it. I have never worked with silk on that scale. What ever you have to pay it would be worth it if they know how to handle silk.

sewnsewer2 09-11-2009 06:16 PM

Lovely!!

Ninnie 09-11-2009 06:18 PM

That is one beautiful quilt!! I love it!

SharonC 09-11-2009 06:29 PM

Oh my goodness...that is an absolutely breathtaking quilt. I love Jenny Haskins patterns. You have done an amazing job...beautiful.
Can't help with the quilting questions (do it all myself), but I agree...shell out the extra $s for this beauty.
Please post another picture once it's done so we can all drool a little more :)

Maribeth 09-11-2009 06:38 PM

Wow, that is a beauty.

alaskasunshine 09-11-2009 06:40 PM

Wow what a stunning quilt! I can hardly wait to see it quilted. Just beautiful. Was it difficult to work with silk? Looks tough! :D :D :D

Debbie1 09-11-2009 08:12 PM

Your quilt is absolutely amazing. Goregeous!

Harmony 09-11-2009 10:24 PM

So pretty! This would make a fabulous wedding quilt, but I'll bet you could never part with it!

*Deb 09-11-2009 10:48 PM

Absolutely gorgeous, beautiful and stunning...there really isn't any words that say how incredible your quilt is!!! And I agree, do splurge on the quilting...to do anything else would be disrespectful of your time and effort. And I won't even suggest you send it on to me...how could you ever part with such a beauty??? :P

SulaBug 09-11-2009 10:49 PM

mimee4 09-12-2009 07:43 AM

Incredibly beautiful. What a treasure.

RedGarnet222 09-12-2009 07:53 AM

I think that you could contact a local guild and get the name of a long arm quilter in your area. There are some very talented quilter's in your area. Ever go to one of thier shows?

It will depend on the design that will be done on it and the amount of bobbins that are used. Some gals charge by the square inch. Around here for an allover design for a queen is about a hundred and fourty dollars. But, I am thinking that might be a lot more because of buying the silk threads that will be required and the specialty designs that it deserves.

That is a family treasure fo sure... goregeous!

JCL in FL 09-13-2009 09:45 AM

I've never seen anything quite like that. It is gorgeous. Did you make up the patterns yourself?

k3n 09-13-2009 10:21 AM

Oh my! That is stunning - so understated and elegant and a Lot of work! I would be very fussy about chosing a quilter for that if I were you - it's an heirloom for sure. I think there was a thread up recently discussing the cost of LAQs. :D

MoMoSews 09-13-2009 12:47 PM

OMG! That is fabulous!

littlehud 09-13-2009 07:40 PM

That is absolutely beautiful. It just takes my breath away.

Janstar 09-13-2009 07:50 PM

What an elegant quilt! Awesome job!!

ania755 09-13-2009 08:02 PM

This is awesome....I love the way it looks so pleasent.... :D

JoanneS 09-13-2009 08:17 PM

Fantabulous! Breathtaking! If it were mine, I would want be sure the quilter has worked with silk before, because it requires special handling. I agree with the others who've said don't try to save money on the quilting end after you've done such a SPECIAL job on YOUR end with the embroidery and piecing. Please post pictures when the quilting is done.

Bevanger 09-14-2009 04:44 AM

wow! that's gorgeous :D

MollieSue 09-14-2009 04:51 AM

that's going to depend on how you want it quilted and where you live. Since it's got so much embellishment on it already, your quilter will need to be very careful to avoid the embellishment . here in the Midwest, I'm guessing it will probably be somewhere from 4-7cents per square inch--but again, it depends on how you want it quilted and where you live.
