Desperately seeking the directions to actually putting "Ocean of Fire" block together.
In my haste to tear out this pattern I got the first page and last page but am actually missing the middle part which shows how to connect the star. I have tried Googling it to no avail - does anyone out there have the full article? Thanks! |
that is a classic block, sometimes called double pinwheel, that is constructed with partial seams. here is a tut http://www.sleepingdogquilts.com/sle...ilt-block.html

What magazine? That would be helpful!
|
Fons and Potter just had this on their show. maybe they have it on their site.
have to sew partial seams. |
Yep, that's done with a partial seam (the first one) around the center square. You only sew the second half of the seam, then add the rest of the pieces all around. When you come back to the starting point, where the first half of the seam is not sewn, you finish up that seam. Done!

Looks like the Hope of Hartford block, check out the instructions here, hope that helps. http://quilterscache.com/H/HopeofHartfordBlock.html

It's on the cover of the Jan/Feb Fons and Porter magazine, I just picked one up at the grocery store.

I have several Sampler Quilt magazines. I will check to see if I can find the information you need.
