Just complete this quilt for the school auction. I call it "My Shadow". The inspiration for the project came from my own first grade teacher, Mrs. Sperry, who made silouhettes of all her first graders for many years. My husband and I were in her class the same year ( 50 years ago ). I have our silhouettes in the original frames hanging on our living room wall. We have fond memories of Mrs. Sperry and our first grade classmates. One day I hope someone remembers their first grade year with warm thoughts.

What a great idea! I love it-did you use "real" kids for the silhouettes?

YEs, these are my first graders.

Oh this is so nice. Did silouettes in Kindergarten for my daughter's class to take home on Mothers' Day. Now this is so great! Love it!

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a fantastic idea. Did you put their names on the quilt anywhere? A family tree would be nice to do also.

Striking :-P

What a perfect way to remember and honor your students! I taught grade school for 35 yrs. and I wish I had done something like this. When I was teaching, I didn't have the time and didn't know how to quilt.

I'm sure it will show up class reunions for year to come. What an original idea. Happy Quilting
