Your quilt is very pretty and so glad the red did not run! Many prayers for your son, his family and you. I know the fears you have since we also have been through these hard times. Our son retired almost 2 years ago after 20 years in Air Force with 4 deployments to the mid east. We are thankful everyday for his safe return. I pray you son will also return home safely. God Bless you all.

Like your quilt, thank your son for his service to our country, the quilt is great. My grand son took his jean quilt I'dd made for him several years ago. It's a piece of home they have along with warmth. I also shipped him wool caps, socks, gloves and blankets while he was in Afghanistan. His troop came home this week, not sure if he will have to go back or not, my heart and prayers go out to each of them on foreign soil, God bless be strong..

VERY nice. Will keep your son in my prayers. I know what you are going thru. My nephew (who is like our son) has been deployed 3 times so far. He was one of the soliders who parachuted into Iraq on day 1. He's been there twice and afghanstain once. HOPE there will be no more deployments for him.
Yes it is cold in the weather. My nephew asked for a scraf. I started a campaign and asked people to make or buy scarves and send to me or ro any solider deployed. When i heard from him I was so shocked. he said there was so many scraves showing up everyone was wearing them LOL!!

You have made a beautiful quilt, for a very special son. Sending a big Thank You to you, your son, and all his family! I am grateful for all our service men.

Terrific quilt for him! A wonderful gift of love. Please thank him for his service. May the Lord watch over them all, and bring them safely home.

Great quilt, I know you son will think of you and the love you put into every stitch, each time he uses it. Please give him a huge hug and a BIG THANKS from me for his and his family's service to our country. I don't know if many of our service personnel and their families realize just how many prayers go up for them daily and how grateful so many of us are, for their love of this country and fellowman. I know that I personally give thanks and ask God to protect them and their families in all of my prayers. Praying he won't be gone too long and can soon return to his loved ones. Thanks for sharing your work.

Had a hard time doing the binding (which is my favorite part of the quilt to do) because kept hoping and praying he wouldn't be deployed. Once he got his final orders, many tears, the quilt is ready for him to take. When he was there last time he said it was pretty cold in the winter. The quilt I made him then went to the Afghan soldier he was training. Asking for prayers for our son, wife Christy, son Gavin (5) and daughter Julia (3) and all the soldiers (their families) serving.
Usually wash my fabrics before the quilt is made but these are from several charm packs. Was really scared of the red but it didn't bleed at all. There was nothing on the color catchers, so surprised. Good quality fabrics from MSQC.

It's beautiful. I pray it keeps him warm and safe.

My prayer is for the safety of Andy, the peace of mind of Christy, Gavin and Julia and all the soldiers (& their families) & the people the soldiers are trying to help in Afghanistan. I pray that God will hold all of them and bring Andy back to the joy of his family. Your quilt will be a great comfort to him. And how well you raised him to be able to share the gift his mother gave him with another mother's son. That's a testimony to you.

I will pray for a safe return for your son as well as those left behind. My DH was in Viet Nam for a year and it was difficult for me, I can't imagine what your DIL will be going through with 2 small children. God bless her and her children as well. Please thank your son for his service for his country.

I was an Army wife for 20 years and went through Desert Storm and am praying for your son, his family and his folks too. It is a stressful time and trust God will bring him back safely.

I know how you feel, my son retired from the Marines after twenty years 07/11/2007. He also served in Afghanistan while in the Marines and now working for the State Dept. Please tell your son I thank him for his service.

caspharm 07-16-2014 03:28 PM

What a wonderful! I made our son a Navy quilt when he was deployed. He was in for 5 years as a Master At Arms (MP - Navy style). Found out after he returned that while he was based in Bahrain, he was actually sent to Iraq. He came back safely.

Thank them all for their service.

Bobbielinks 07-16-2014 03:45 PM

Many, many thoughts and prayers for you, Andy, and the rest of your and Andy's family. A beautiful quilt from a loving mother. I have a grandson who became a Marine on May 23. We are waiting on word on where he will be stationed at the end of this month. I pray daily for his safety and that of all our military families, I will be adding Andy and his family along with you to my prayers.

matraina 07-16-2014 07:11 PM

Oh, it is very pretty. I will keep your son and his family in my prayers. They are all very deserving of all our prayers and anything else one can do for them.

Grandma Peg 07-16-2014 08:06 PM
