I finally finished sewing the top for a quilt that I am making as a graduation gift. I'm ready to start quilting it. It is a signature quilt for a sweet girl that I bring home from school every day. I got her a fabric pen so all her friends can sign on the yellow lines. Hopefully she will like it. Thanks for looking.

Oh, I love this. I've been looking for a pattern to make one for my own DD. Too bad my scraps aren't as vibrant and lively as yours. Are your HST's 2.5" unfinished?

Your quilt is really pretty, she'll love it!

This was quite a different pattern than I have ever done. The pattern called for a 5 1/2" square cut in half. I am not sure what that makes the HST's. Then I sewed them together into pairs and put the yellow strip between two pairs. It was a different type of square with the 4 HST's on the outside and the yellow strip in the middle. It was easy though.

OH!!! I get it now!! I was thinking to myself "why didn't she just sew the sashing on straight instead of mitering each one". I was looking at the colored patten as the "block" and the yellow as sashing. I see the 'block' now!! Clever!!

Great quilt and a nice idea for her to have her signature quilt!
I know she will love it!

That's how I looked at it at first too. It took my brain awhile to figure it out.

I cut the 5 1/2" squares in quarters not in half. Sorry if I confused anyone. This was a Fons and Porter pattern I got out of a magazine.
