This came to me from a friend who can no longer quilt and didn't want it - it was given to her from another friend years ago who didn't want to finish it.... it looks like the blocks were made from shirts and blouses. I can't find the family of the origional maker so.... what should I do with it? I won't quilt it. Does anyone know the name of the block?

It is beautiful. You should quilt it and enjoy it's beauty. It would make a beautiful display in your home.

I'd probably go ahead and quilt it, but if you don't want to, perhaps there's someone locally who collects old quilt tops who might appreciate it. Or how about donating it to a museum? If you have a quilt shop nearby, someone there might be able to give you names of those who would have an interest in it.

A museum is a good idea. I will check into that.

It's just not my style I like more modern fabrics. I do agree it's lovely and my boyfriend actually asked for it but since it was given to me I feel like I should donate it or ??

If your boyfriend likes it, why wouldn't you "donate" it to him?

yolanda 03-22-2011 07:38 AM

:-) He is awful sweet but probabally because he "claims" many of my quilts - I made one especially for him and he does not even use it and have a tee shirt quilt in queue that he has asked for and he's given me 4 cotton shirts to use since he saw this one. I think making him one from his own shirts would be more meaningful.

This being my first donation. Wow to play with something like this and get it finished. is the block called Iron Cross by chance?
