This is my variation of your quilt and i did this kind of border I really like your pattern

ranger 02-02-2010 03:49 AM

I like this pattern. I also like the color combination you used. The quilt glows. Great job.

donna873 02-02-2010 03:53 AM

Jerrie, great idea..yours turned out very pretty!

lisalovesquilting 02-02-2010 04:09 AM

Beautiful quilt. I think a skinny inner border in red (is it red? sometimes with cameras it's hard to tell) wide outer border in green.

STAR 02-02-2010 04:23 AM

wow!! you two ladies made some great looking quilts! love that pattern

GailG 02-02-2010 04:26 AM

I think your darkest dark for a narrow (your width preference) inner border and your lightest light for the wider (again your width preference) outer border.
Although the outer border could be the color that you would prefer to go on that particular bed. Only my 2 cents.

donna873 02-02-2010 04:29 AM

You guys have some great ideas..thank you sew much..

Your quilt is lovely, I love your colours

jewelps 02-02-2010 05:32 AM

RedGarnet222 02-02-2010 07:13 AM

Oh! I like this a lot! Did you see the scalloped border tutorial Eddie posted in the tutorials section? That would just compliment this quilt greatly.

beachlady 02-02-2010 07:16 AM

cuppi duke 02-02-2010 07:52 AM

I love it. The pattern and your choice of colors are terrific. What is the name of the pattern? Cuppi

paintedquilt 02-02-2010 08:13 AM

Wow

Boston1954 02-02-2010 08:25 AM

I would put two borders. A smaller one on the inside, and a larger one for the outer. Maybe a medium and a dark.

It is a different setting of Drunkards path

feline fanatic 02-02-2010 09:05 AM

This is gorgeous. Did you use batiks? I would do a narrow plain border in a darker color and pieced border using additional DP blocks to form a continuos path around the outside.

azam 02-02-2010 10:57 AM

First, wow! Beautiful fabrics, and great pattern, it looks like you are doing a great job!

Second, it is funny that I would see this post, about what kind of border to do - as I just signed up for a free on-line border class! It is with Quilt University - looks like they have all kinds of great classes. I have never taken a class, so signed up for this class especially created to introduce new students to the University - and it's topic is borders! How to decide what to do.

Maybe you could sign up for the class too (you get everything in just a few minutes after signing up, and it is made so that it doesn't need high-speed, but can be done on dial up).

Check them out:

Good luck, be sure to post a pic of what you finally decide for your beautiful quilt!

It is a drunkards path.. I seen the picture in an ad for Red Hen Fabrics in the back of Feb 2010 Quilt. you should be able to go to www.redhenfabrics.com and see the pattern.. I just looked at the picture and set it together after i made my block.

donna873 02-02-2010 04:23 PM

The curves were not that bad after I figured out it was easier not to pin them.

laadw 02-02-2010 06:57 PM

That is a beautiful quilt. I would use the gold or red as a boarder. Those are the color that stuck out the most to me.
