I was wanting to know how would you all quilt this? thanks

jograma 03-16-2012 07:06 PM

I don't know but you did a wonderful job!

mighty 03-16-2012 07:39 PM

I do not know but it sure is awesome!!!

Grandma Bonnie 03-16-2012 07:49 PM

Great quilt - no help with the quilting though.

bri1977 03-16-2012 07:51 PM

Wow. That's awesome. Brings back memories too :)
*I I think however you quilt it you should try to keep the quilting geometric rather than organic, because it will accentuate the geometric feel of the quilt top......does that make sense?

QuiltingCrazie 03-17-2012 12:52 AM

I love this quilt!! All that comes to my mind when I see this is the power up mushrooms!!Have fun and can't wait to see it finished!!

orangeroom 03-17-2012 01:33 AM

I would stiple or meander with the same color thread as what's being quilted. For example, I'd quilt white in the cloud, avoiding the blue within the cloud, and red thread on red fabric, ect. It all depends if you want the piecing to stand out, or the quilting.

Good job, by the way. Your GS will love it!

quilterella 03-17-2012 02:59 AM

I would have to agree with bri1977. I was actually thinking diagonal crosshatch, just to keep the geometrics of the quilt. Usually I would have said meandering or stippling, but, this one says cross-hatching to me. Whatever you decide, it will be beautiful. BTW your quilt is astounding.

Lisa Marie 03-17-2012 03:18 AM

That is so cool, he is going to love it.

QUILTNMO 03-17-2012 03:35 AM

that is really a neat quilt not sure how i would quilt it!

Plumtree 03-17-2012 03:37 AM

What a fantastic quilt!! I love video games, one of my 4 hobbies. Your grandson is a lucky lil dude.

Not sure how I would quilt it, maybe stippling but with sqaure turns instead of curves. I guess more like etch-a-sketch type turns.

hopetoquilt 03-17-2012 03:41 AM

My son says, "WOW!!" Can't quite get the font large enough to represent how cool he thinks it is. Is there a pattern for that? How in the world did you make it? It is just too cool. I like the idea of stippling with more square turns.

Quilt Novice 03-17-2012 07:56 AM

Great job! Did you use a pattern?

Grandma Peg 03-17-2012 07:57 AM

Great quilt, my husband would love it!!

wandatn 03-17-2012 08:06 AM

I downloaded pictures and enlarged them and then took a ruler and made squares making them 2" squares and then put it all together-you can look at the quilt and see it. Its hard work but I believe my grandson will love it on his birthday next Saturday

jenOSU 03-17-2012 12:00 PM

My boys saw this and now want me to make them both one :). Hand or machine quilting?

pls1946 03-17-2012 12:06 PM

Really neat quilt....I, too like the idea of staying geometric...no curvy lines for Mario!!!

javin22 03-17-2012 12:15 PM

Wow! that is great! I have never seen a Mario quilt.

stitcherlady 03-17-2012 12:37 PM

Your quilt is great. My son (who is almost 21) is sitting here and I showed it to him. He said that it was awesome!

wandatn 03-17-2012 02:04 PM

Machine quilting-hope I don't mess it up.lol

Treasureit 03-17-2012 02:07 PM

You can stitch in the ditch and keep the lego effect....but I bet you don't want to do that! What if you did the blue square with by group even numbers.

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 03-17-2012 02:08 PM

My 22 year old grandson would love this quilt. He builds logos in the barricks....among other things.

granmalovesyou 03-17-2012 03:00 PM

not sure about the quilting but quilt is awesome

alfosa421 03-17-2012 03:02 PM

WOW WHAT A COOL QUILT!! is that supposed to be like legos? if it is maybe you could make lego block quilting Great job

tammy cosper 03-17-2012 05:28 PM

what a great job!
Tammy

alikat110 03-18-2012 03:59 PM

Homemother 03-20-2012 04:35 AM

This is a fabulous quilt!!!!!

Homemother 03-20-2012 04:37 AM

Ok...now for quilting advice...I think you should quilt some other characters into the background or other figures that are in the game like the tools used to destroy the obstacles or the obstacles themselves. Please post when you are done!!!

raedar63 03-23-2012 05:41 AM

I know nothing of actual quilting skills ,I just wanted to say how much I love this quilt . Some of my best times with my boys was playing this game when they were little :)

Delta 03-23-2012 05:48 AM

stipple the blue and leave the rest of it or stitch in the ditch the pic's and stipple the blue. LOve it to funny

BizzieLizzie 03-23-2012 06:15 AM

Such a gorgeous quilt! May I ask if the background is pieced as well? I can sort of see faint sqaures....if it is, double WOW!!

Jammin' Jane 03-27-2012 12:03 PM

Fantastic quilt! It will be loved forever!
Stiple it! :)

paulswalia 03-27-2012 12:10 PM

There's a book by Laura Lee Fritz called Mindful Meandering - she has some geometric continuous line quilting designs that would fit. I agree with some others above, keep it geometric, not round/swirly organic to better emphasize the quilt design.

wandatn 04-21-2012 06:43 PM

it is all 2 inch squares-I quilted it-stitch in the ditch-boy was my shoulders hurting-I will get a picture of it and put it on here

cjackaitlin 04-22-2012 07:44 AM

Your quilt looks just like Lego blocks, what an awesome job you did. Thanks for sharing.
