I had this duck panel and wanted to do something a bit different with it. I just laid out the panel and then began to add pieced sections around the edge to try to blend with the design and colors. Had fun with the bunch of Flying Geese :)

Oh I love THAT! The FGs are like a skein of geese flying in the sky.

nstitchs 08-11-2011 02:28 AM

That is amazing, now I know why I look at the pics all the time, this is inspiring. I love the way you made the color choices go with the duck panel. It is absolutely gorgeous.

Your quilts are all outstanding, but this one is in a class by itself! Great quilt!

Thanks so much :) I really enjoyed choosing the fabrics and deciding on what piecing to use but I had to keep reminding myself that I was going to have to make it all fit together in the end, so it could be sewn :)

pollyjvan9 08-11-2011 04:06 AM

I really like what you did. Now maybe I can do some of my panels that I have bought for my grandsons. Everything I thought of was so boring. Beautiful work and love the way you organized the colors.

eiltcoq 08-11-2011 04:14 AM

Linda, I love the way you designed your quilt. The 4 patches, flying geese, etc, add so much to the quilt. Thanks for sharing. I am always looking for ways to enhance a panel. Eiltcoq.

One of the best uses of a panel I have ever seen!

debcavan 08-11-2011 07:11 AM

Bet he's thinking, "WOW, what an annoying woman she is and I haven't even met her!"

Thanks so much! I had that panel for several years and couldn't think of a thing to do with it - actually there were two panels. The second one I used for some pieces to add to the other piecing I was adding just to keep some of the colors. The rest of the panel was cut up for scraps :)

Scrap Happy 08-11-2011 07:19 AM

Ooooo, it is gorgeous!! What a unique and beautiful way to use this panel. You did a beautiful job with the colors and the way they flow with the panel. Love it!

Really pretty, and great job on the design.

Kitsapquilter 08-11-2011 12:42 PM

I have been looking at all your quilts and I think I like this one best of all!
Sure would be nice if you posted at least 3 on one post though. Just makes it easier to view them all.
You do fantastic work.

Floralfab 08-11-2011 12:45 PM

Yes, someone else mentioned that as well. I'm going to stop posting so many, so it shouldn't be a problem anymore :) The reason I wouldn't like to post three at once, is because I'd like to see which ones people were interested in looking at.

alikat110 08-11-2011 09:13 PM

Nice.

Jim's Gem 08-12-2011 03:10 PM

Beautiful!

oksewglad 08-12-2011 04:50 PM

So many times panels like this are stuck in the middle of fabric and stick out like a sore thumb. This panel is surrounded by beautiful patchwork with the eye moving gracefully around the quilt.

Grandma Peg 08-12-2011 04:56 PM

Very nice.

nativetexan 08-12-2011 05:02 PM
