Ooooo, very pretty! Good job!

Very Nice. Did you do it as a mystery? I would like to make some Quilts of Valor. I have made a couple of "home of the Brave Quilts" I really appreciate everyone who makes things for our service men and women. My DH did 20 years in the Navy, My DD #1 is in Army Reserves heading to Iraq and my DS is in the Navy. Thank you!!!

Gayle - yes, I did # 1 & 2 as a mystery. It is sooo fun. But #3 clues are going to be weekly & I can't keep up with that so will print them off & do at my leisure - ha ha! The nice thing about the persimmons site is that you only do the top & send it on to her to be quilted & bound! The actual QOV site is quite complicated.
I'm not familiar with Home of the Brave. Is that the URL? I shouldn't even go there as I also do 5x9 crocheted rectangles for afgans for wounded soldiers. And I keep wanting to do a rag flannel quilt for soldiersangels.org and some Christmas stockings for Operation Santa - www.marinecorpsfamilyfoundation.org I can't imagine having 2 children in the military. You poor thing - WORRY must be your middle name. |
That is pretty....We have one son in the Navy....miss him so bad
|
That is beautiful!!

Very nice. I"m sure who ever gets it is going to tresure it. Great job.

Love your quilt and bookmarked the site. I'm hoping to do one as well, but I have toooooooooo many projects now and have to clear the path. I'm usually a start to finish, one at a time quilter, but currently have 6 projects going.

Thanks for sharing that site annmaire - she has a lot of good information there! In her webshots album, there are photos of two service men sewing blocks - I just had to show those to DH :D
|
God Bless you for helping out our troops!
|
love it!

Annmarie, here is a website that talks about "Home of the Brave" quilts.www.quiltersmuse.com/home_of_the_brave_quilt_project.htm - 23k
They give quilts to surviving family members of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. My daughter had a friend, who spent her last night sleeping in her hooch with her, who was killed when they were in Afghanistan. There were 2 from her unit, I Made a quilt for Robert's 4 year old(at the time) daughter and one for his parents. I also made one for Meredith's husband and her cousin who she was really close to. I sent squares and pens to Afghanistan for people in her unit to sign as well as to her current unit here out of Santa Barbara because many of them knew Robert and I put the signed squares on the back. Though in the case of Robert's daughter, they signed all over the front of the quilt. |
Thank-you Gayle. Wish there were more hours in a day! There are soooo many great charity military sites - we often don't think about the families needing quilts too. What a great quilt that must have been. Going to check this site out too.
