Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful family w/the Quilting Board and this beautiful quilt. You are certainly a special sister and sil. And your dear mother, . . . . what can we say. She and dad would be so proud of you to honor your brother with this beautiful tribute for his service. We are all humbled by your service.
I, too, have been involved with Quilts of Valor for seven years. And I know this is the most meaningful volunteer work I have ever done. I recently received a thank you from the medical staff in Afghanistan saying that the QOV I had made for the recipient was draped over him when he received his Purple Heart. This message really touched my heart. I had not thought of the Purple Heart thing at all. Rarely do we know the name of the recipient and receiving such a thank you makes on realize the valuable mission of QOVs. |
WOW the love for your brother is amazing. And if it not for your brothers service to his country where would we be?
Please thank him for me. |
Tears spill over as I look at this beautiful quilt you have made for your brother. I can only imagine the family's reaction to your gift..please share it with us after you present it to him. Thanks to your family for their sacrifices.

That fabulous quilt needs to be displayed for a year at the American Legion or VFW, vets would have a fit over it & demand one for themselves!

Your quilt is awesome and you are the greatest sister ever. My eyes teared reading your post. God Bless your family for giving so much for our freedom.
|
This quilt is very special and I am sure your brother will appreciate it. So glad you are able to present it to him after all this time.

First off, I want to thank each and every one of you for your lovely compliments. They warmed my heart and made me feel so humble. While I am excited to present this quilt to Rod and the pillow to Ada, I am also dreading it. I would really like to do this in private as I know that there will be tears. But I also know that some of my family would want to be there. I guess I will just have to let it play out however it's meant to be.
I spent my summers staying with them when I was growing up. Ada is like my second Mom. I love them both so dearly. And I am so proud of Rod. We were a family of 12, so you know that we were very poor. Rod only had a seventh grade education, but that never stopped him. He has excelled in everything he's done in life. He is one of my true heroes. And Ada was right there by his side, helping. They are true roll models in every aspect of life...marriage, work ethic, and just caring for others. Sorry for too much personal information, but I want you to know that these gifts that I give from my heart are so well deserved. |
Wow, what a stunning heartfelt gift! So impressive, and beautifully done.
|
Love your story…brought tears to my eyes. Your quilt and pillow are beautiful and your brother and sister-in-law will love them. Bet there will be more tears of happiness and appreciation when they receive them. Thank you for sharing !!! And thank him for his service too.

And you are our hero. You have shared yourself, your family and your talent with us all. We all appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness in blessing your brother, sister-in-law and members of the family. But, then isn't this what our Lord expects of us? You are truly a blessing.
