This is beautiful. I just made a runner that looks like the same pattern. Did you use some muslin as a backing, and did you cut your strips all the same widths. I think it looks as if you did on your picture. I cut my runner strips the same width ( 1 inch, but it really took a lot of strips and I would cut them various sizes if I do it again ) I loved making my runner, but you are really brave to do an entire quilt. I love your work.

I started with a 2inch strip in the centre and added whatever I had in various widths. The black are the strips joining the blocks in a quilt as you go. Here is a photo of the back using different fabrics that had been hoarded.

Which quilt as you go method did you use to get the small sashings? They really look great with your wonderful string quilt.

I don't have the site to hand but it was on a blog for Michelle's Patterns. I like to handstitch the strips down on the back. I am now doing an I Spy using the same method.

Love your scrappy quilt! How do those scraps grow while we use them?

What is Michelle's blog called or do you have her last name. The back of your quilt is so beautiful also.
