Quilted bag dispenser

A couple weeks ago, a small group from the guild was discussing the upcoming April quilt show. The gal running the boutique was wishing she had a dispenser for bags for purchases made. I had previously made a gold one one for me, so volunteered to make one for the boutique. I made it larger around as I'm sure they will use lots of bags.

I'd love to find a pattern for these. they're so useful, especially with pets.

I made one of those but yours are a lot prettier than mine. They sure are handy.

Annz 02-26-2017 08:31 PM

Kool. What did you use to keep the top open? BrendaK

I have one of those that I love but it's not as pretty as yours. I made mine out of a kitchen towel from the Dollar Tree store. I've had it for years & use it all the time. Looks like you could get some of that green strapping at Home Depot that bundles of lumber come wrapped in for the top of the bag holder. My HD store gave me some free that I used to make a thread catcher one time. My bag holder has elastic in the top & bottom. I like the idea of the open top.

brenda, osewme got it... i used strapping from packages... and folks wonder why i don't throw stuff away LOL

no pattern needed! Just a cylinder with a channel at top and bottom for elastic and a handle for doorknob! At least that's what mine are....

Very nice! I also made some for gifts last year. Everyone loves them & they are so useful

GrammaTerry 02-28-2017 07:52 AM

Great idea. I think I'll make some for our Children's Hospital Guild booth at the Christmas bazaar. I have some extra blocks I can use. Thanks for sharing!

I'm with you quiltnNan. I don't throw away things that look like they could be 'useful'. As soon as I do toss it, I could have used it. I've made over 50 of these for gifts for my dance group and family. No two were the same and they had elastic top and bottom. I do like the idea of them being open at the top.

callen 02-28-2017 08:24 AM

Looks great & I'm sure it will be put to good use.

caspharm 02-28-2017 09:53 AM

Great looking bags! I have one that a friend made me about 15 years ago. My great nephew pulled on it and pulled the hanging strap lose on one side so it is in the "to be mended" stack. I need to get to it soon because I really miss it.

joyce888 02-28-2017 11:21 AM

Good job. My Mom made one for me years ago and I still have it.
