I just finished this quilted Christmas table-topper for my kitchen table.

Yes, machine-pieced and machine-appliqued. I quilted in the ditch and around the applique. I really prefer to hand-applique - needle turn - but had to do it the fast way in order to be able to enjoy it for Christmas.

This is really pretty. Let me ask, do you piece it square and then cut the circle out of it? I would think so, but I'm such a newbie some things confuse me...

This was a paper-pieced pattern. I had a large paper foundation - I think it is about 36" diameter. The outer circle was a part of the foundation paper.

Actually, it was a kit - can't remember where I got it from.
