quilted Mandala
1 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone,
Here's a pic of a quilted Mandala that I recently finished. It's 26.5" x 26.5". I layered a piece of muslin over some thin batting and used rulers to quilt the main design, then colored it with Inktense pencils and fabric medium. Then I added some more batting and a backing and re-quilted the main design and added the filler designs in. After the quilting was done I used 2mm rattail and the overcast stitch my sewing machine to bind it and mounted it on a piece of foam core which I glued to a 24" square stretcher frame. It was a lot of fun to do and I think I'll do some more of them. thanks for looking, Rob |
That's VERY cool Rob! And thanks so much for explaining the technique. That painting is fun isn't it?

Oh. My. Gosh. Such a beautiful work of art. I would never tire of looking at that.
|
Rob: That came out amazing. I just donated my Irena Blum? book that featured that technique, but still have my Inktense pencils and the medium to try some more someday. I love the fact that you mounted it as a wall piece to admire all day. You did such gorgeous work. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone! I'm hoping to do another one next month if I can get through the backlog of quilting projects that got put on hold while I recovered from my riding mishap.
And- super good news: I just got word from DH that they have taken him off the iv antibiotics and are now giving him oral antibiotics. They want to observe him for another 24 to 48 hours to make sure they don't need to go back to iv, but it's looking like he may be home Tues. or Wed. Rob |
Great news about your DH. And your mandala is gorgeous.
