quilted placematts with some selvages and strings

3 Attachment(s)
These were made using some selvages I paper pieced then cut into triangles. It was a lot of fun to do the paper piecing but not so much fun to get the paper off, so don't know what I'm going to do with about 80 paper piece triangles.
Any way, I attached these on to my quilting frame and was able to quilt them there.

This is the pile of triangle I made.

and this is how many I have used so far.

close up of one mat showing the quilting and triangle detail. These were so much fun to make and quilt.

Very unique. Great way to use the salvages.

Those are great! I started saving selveges but I cut them too narrow so they're really not useful. You did a great job!

Barb_MO 03-19-2013 06:57 PM

I've gotten a lot given to me that were really narrow. I always cut about 1-1/2 inches when I trim the selvages, I like to have the color part too.

I love the quilting you did. Those look really nice!

Cute idea! I have saved selvages, too and this is a great idea!

As far as removing the paper, try folding along the seam lines and then use your seam ripper between the paper and the fabric to remove the paper.

What a good idea! I should start to do something with my salvages. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you, I will try that now that I finally own a seam ripper after 40 years of quilting.

I love the triangle idea. I finally got into saving them (held off for quite a while) so I might borrow your idea and finally do something with them. Thanks for sharing and the inspiration
