I made the pictured pocket book for my mothers birthday. It is not until the end of July so I am not sure I can wait that long to give it to her. The first picture is the pocket book being approved by one of our two quilt inspectors. Her name is Smokey. Her brother is Bandit. The second is 1/2 of the outside showing the quilting. The quilting was designed in Brothers PE Design software and quilted by my husband Will. The 3rd picture is one side of the lining with the pockets. The pattern is Miranda Day Bag from LazyGirlDesigns.com.

Lining with pockets and label.

I just love it! Where did you find the Dagwood fabric? So cute!

Very nice bag! I love that your DH quilted it - it took refinishing a dining room set to keep my DH away from my machines :D

Smokey,

Great bag. Isn't your Mom lucky. I found some great free bag patterns on the Lazy Girl Design web site.
I used the one for the small shoulder bags as Christmas gifts for my daughters, daughters in law and granddaughters this past Christmas. They take about a yard each, some scrap batting or prequilted fabric, a small zipper and some kind of fastner, even a large snap or velcro will do. We threw in a shopping gift card and most of my shopping was done.

The woman who owns Lazy Girl routinely shows her bags and tips for making them on the Kaye Woods quilting show. If you go to Kaye's web site you can watch little videos freaturing them.

Thanks for all the compliments. I got the fabric at a Hancocks store. It was one of the "special specials". The other print fabric came from Wal Mart. Sure hope they don't close all of their fabric departments. When we travel, we make a point of stopping at Wal Marts to check the fabric departments. Believe me we have been to quite a lot of them--from Virginia south to Mississippi. We live in Charlotte, NC.
