That is a much better picture. Cell phones are for phone calls, not pictures!
 That is just so grand. My Aunt and Uncle are going to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and I won't be present. I was wondering if I could make a beautiful card like that, perhaps a little larger, where I could possibly recite a romantic poem about marriage or something in gold lettering. I have to think about it. |
Cordelia, that would be really sweet!

Cordelia, what a lovely idea, the only limitation is the boundary's of our imagination......go with whatever you like :D
|
I just called my mom about it and she thinks it's a good idea, but they're leaving in two weeks and she doesn't think I'll be able to do it.
How hard can it be????? She's got some of that really stiff fusable stuff you use for like lamp shades and fabric bowl panels. I just have to find a poem on anniversaries and use her embroidery machine and embroider in gold lettering the verses and some floral embroidery designs on it. Then I'll have to matte it and frame it and send it off with my parents. And, I'd have to do all that on Saturday. Yikes. I dunno. :-o  |
Sure you can.....go get searching for your poem.... I used Timtex and I believe the U.S.A. equivalent is Pellon Double fusible, but you can use ordinary batting, but I like the stiffness but still with a little 'give' to give the quilting effect...make sure you post a picture for us all to see :D
|
Some fussy cut flowers around the edge surrounding the poem would be nice.....got me thinking now!!
|
What if you made it like a scroll, with a ribbon to hold it closed......
|
Just thinking if you cut the pellon into three pieces, a large and two half size rectangles, then fused fabric to it, creasing where the split in the pellon is, it would be lovely to have a central opening with the verse on the larger piece....clear as mud????

Those are good ideas. I was thinking of having it flat so they could have it framed.
I'm writing the verses myself. I'm no poet so I'm winging it. Had a block and am stopping. I looked for some kind of anniversary poems, but I didn't find anything really nice. Just a bunch of like "toasts." I was looking for something romantic -- classic. Hmmmm. Sappho is in order ... |
Wow these are all great. I am especially fond of the balloon. I've always liked them and wanted to go up in one but getting afraid at my age to do it. OLD HAHA
