Those are beautiful. I had a brother that got killed in Vietnam. Still hurts to this day. He was also in the Marines and my other brother also went to Vietnam and made it home. He is a retired Col and I'm
So proud of him!!! Great job and I know the people really appreciated your thoughtfulness |

WOW!!! What a fabulous memento for you to make for them.

What a nice gift. Please pass on my thanks for their service. In 66-67 I read a Dear Abby column about signing up in I think it was Stars and Strips to be a pen pal. I had many to answer and most I did not hear back from but there was one soldier that we continued to exchange letters until he came home. Over the years I found ways to write letters to soldiers.

Those are wonderful! Could you please tell me how to make one (or more) as my nephew and or his mom would most likely be thrilled to have one. Thanks tons!
Those are gorgeous! It's difficult to even imagine all the work and love that went into those. Lovely keepsakes. Thank you for creating something nice for these folks. That was a tough time with very few positives for the troops.
So nicely done. No wonder they were a hit. My Dad served in the USMC during WWII.
Great job. I'm sure they will treasure them forever.

What a wonderful gift you have made and given to our country's Heroes! I'll bet they are all proud to hang these somewhere in their houses or cars or shops or ..... Thank you for doing this.

Those are so nice-you did a great job and I am sure they will be treasured so much.

Great ornaments! You did a wonderful job - they look so very well made! This past Christmas my oldest grandson could not make it home for the holidays. The first time since he was born Christmas came and went without seeing him. He is a Marine. We decorated the tree as usual then added American flags and put a picture of him at the top of the tree. Oh how I would have loved to have a tree full of those ornaments!
that is so nice!!!
What a thoughtful gift. They will be treasured.

Your tribute is very touching and will be treasured. One of our sons served in the Marine Corps during Desert Storm. The brotherhood is permanently strong!
These are wonderful! Did you make up the pattern?
They are awesome! I know all of your DH's fellow soldiers will cherish them. How thoughtful of you. I have never seen anything like them
Beautiful!! I get the basic idea of how they were made but is it an original design, purchased pattern or a modification of a know pattern??
Oh how beautiful, and such a good idea! Kudos!
Those are great.
Easy to see why they were a hit. These are one-of-a-kind treasures for them.
Thank you for doing this. A priceless memento. BrendaK

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks. To the members who asked about the pattern I really had none. What I did was go on utube and did a search for how to make folded christmas ornaments. I viewed a few and went to work.I got the USMC fabric from Walmart (they also have it at joann). Used a round lids from a container to trace around the USMC logo . from there a made the folded triangles . Its hit and miss and to be honest took along time. BUT worth the wprk.
It takes about 250 pins for each ornament. you use syrofoam.balls. I had sorta directions and will share them as soon as I find where I put them LOL!! my quilt room right now is a mess and plan to clean it up tomorrow. At least thats my plan. I will try and write directions and will be glad to share with anyone interested. Just send me a PM and I will share when I write something up. But be sure to do the utube search thats what really help me. Please include your email address so i can send you the directions. |
Great ornaments. I love the folded star ornaments. I made some one time with a picture of a man who passed away and the University of Alabama logo on the other side. They were given to the man's children for Christmas.

What a wonderful thing to do! They will be treasured.
