A Quilter's Toile- wall hanging
2 Attachment(s)
I like the charm of toile fabric but sometimes it is a challenge to figure out just how to use it in a quilt project because of the large scale. I came across a pattern in an older book I have (Quick Colorful Quilts edited by Rosemarie Wilkinson) and realized that I could finally use a quilting- themed toile I'd had for years, and be able to keep a large section of the toile intact by cutting it on point. Just added a few more fabrics in the same color-way. I have pieces of the solid red and paisley pieced inner border that I will use as hanging tabs.
This is about 40" square. |
I agree, it is a difficult fabric to use since you don't want to lose the picture the toile contains. You made a very nice wall quilt.

Very pretty

Well you did a nice job using the toile well. I often use it as a quilt back.

Thanks for including a close-up. Is the toile print on regular weight cotton? A lot were heavier, for upholstery or draperies.

Ooooh, I love this!!! You have given me an idea of how to use toile. I have some from another
project and didn't think of doing this. Thanks for the inspiration. |
