Quilting by candlelight

Not romantic but how I survived hurricane Sandy and no electricity (or phone service, internet, heat, or hot water) for 4 days!! The quilt I finished is for a raffle for my husband's AIDS families

Glad you are safe even though you don't have electricity. Sandy has certainly caused a lot of heartache and hardship for many. I hope your electricity is restored soon.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Sounds like you made the best of a bad situtation. I'm glad you had no damage. Beautiful dog.

So glad to hear you did ok - must be that you had such a cute, big and warm helper! Hope everything is back to normal soon up there.

Such pretty colors in the quilt, someone will love to curl up in it. Glad you have a chair and a half to share with your furbaby. Glad the electric is back on now and you can have a hot cuppa next to you.

Gorgeous quilt!
When we would lose electric in hot and humid Florida due to hurricanes and storms we were sticky and miserable BUT my heart goes out to everyone in the cold. I think that is worse than hot and humid!

Glad you are safe and have the electric back!

I know how you feel w/o all of your things when we had Hurricane Charley we was w/o power for 2 wks in 90 degree heat and sunny to go outside to rake all the crap that flew around. No matter it's an awful thing to go thru. I love your friend hiding under your arm. The quilt you have over you looks pretty. See what you can do by candlelight. I always wondered how the women on Little House on the Praire did things but they wasn't used to the nice things we have. Hugs and prayers to you and all the people who go thru this you never forget it but you sure learn a lot about how strong you can be. Thinking of you all. Bless you for taking time to make a quilt for someone else. Sue

Your furbaby and quilting project is keeping you warm during a difficult time. I have family who have been flooded by the storm, thankfully they are all safe. Hopefully your power will be on soon!

I hope everything is soon restored for you. Pretty quilt. Isn't it great to have a nice hobby to help pass the time.

Yes, we heard a lot about Sandy, glad you weathered the storm well. Looks like you kept warm and busy, and had good company. The quilt is beautiful !!!

Happy to hear your safe and able to keep yourself busy.

Glad you are safe. I don't have to worry about hurricanes where I live, but the ice storm of 2000 had us without power for 11 days. We are all electric so we moved to the deer camp where there is a wood stove for heat and I could cook on top of it. We ran a generator for 2 hours every evening so we could pump water for us and all the neighbors.

Hope things get back to normal soon for you.

Someone once told me that if you had a kerosene lamp and a treddle sewing machine that that's all you needed when things like this happen. Plus it must have kept you warm while quilting and I love the "white quilt" by your side. :)

Blessings.

Glad your safe and it looks like you've plenty to keep you warm(the pooch)

GreatStarter 11-03-2012 01:50 PM

It must have helped keep your warm during those long days. Hope you have all services back now. Love the lab, he reminds me of ours that passed away a few years ago. Wonderful dogs. Great quilt!
