I always test a spot in the seam allowance first to make sure it will be ok. Once I confirm that the mark will come out with a quick spray from a misting bottle that is how I remove the marks as I go. Once the area has been quilted I spray with a misting bottle with plain water and wipe away with a towel. Once dry, the marks are no longer visible or if they are I spray a second time and that takes care of it. I would guess that 97% of the ink is gone (if not all of it). There may be trace amounts of the water soluble pen in the fibers or batting but they aren't visible. It is assumed that the quilt will be washed at some point which will remove the trace amounts of ink left. But I always let my clients know I have or plan to use a water soluble pen for marking. If the fabric in the quilt has not been prewashed I find a different way to mark so as to not risk a bleed when removing marks as that once happened to me and I was mortified. I have also used chalk, golden threads paper, ceramic lead pencils and once I even used ground cinnamon to mark with a stencil which brushes away. Water soluble blue pen is my favorite way to mark light colored fabrics. I also like the purple air erase but sometimes those marks disappear too quickly. Dark colored fabrics will usually get chalk or ceramic lead which brushes away or removes with a damp cloth.

Oh my--oh my---oh my... I really love the quilting on this baby. You have a blast creating it--and we have a blast looking at it. I love different quilting designs in spaces.

I have the next two quilts planned...as you know. If a panto won't do--they'll be coming your way. But since I haven't started, it shall be awhile. lol
